Becareful that your primary clutch can't close further than your secondary clutch and bring the belt up and out of the primary or rip the belt in half! Things happen fast at 120 mph and belt breaking causes a loud boom!
YES,,,this is a good point....when we did this we were very specific in trying the belt without spring, before cutting too much....I have a specific finished dimension which works perfectly to bring belt FLUSH to top of primary and NO FURTHER....
and I totally agree,IF you do primary and NOT secondary work, you are asking for troube!...Belts getting pulled too hard at 120mph and blowing apart will defintely hurt someone bad!...
I highly recommend anyone machining clutch faces Be certain you TEST and CHECK these specs before running the sled!...dont want anyone getting hurt here!...

its mainly the helix HUB or Hub if secondary..depending on what helix youre using....If you use a aftermarket like Dalton, you wont need to do much more at all.

[Thats a good one Allen.. You should have heard the loud Boom when my moveable sheave on my Primary decided to part ways on my 975 ZRT Cat @122 mph, plus ,on Lake of Bays, pitch dark out, and I had a few to many.CAUSE Unknown,Verdict still out 11 years on that one .$4500.00 damage covered by Cat. Still to this day fastest sled I had, 125 on radar 126, 10minutes later.Dwight Bay Radar Runs 1996 .Hats off to Goodwin Performance, Pride of Muskoka,Oh yeah and Toronto Dominion Bank Elmira Ontario.Bill
