'16 Turbo recall - Interesting tidbits

I have not received any official notification from Yamaha not to ride my sled.

If repair kits are still 3-4 weeks away, then repairs will be longer than that. If there is snow, I will be riding....

1200 miles on sled last winter and it didn't grenade yet....

My brother has same sled and he has 1600 on his.

The intent to recall notice was intended for dealers. So yes to customers it does not exist. Now if you bring your 16 in to the dealer for reflash and they tell you not to ride it???? I think you all know what to do to keep warranty intact if you decide to ride.

I think it's b.s. That their only replacing the rods in the turbo'd sleds. When I bought this sled I was told it could easy be turbo charged and I had intentions of installing the factory turbo kit down the road when I could afford to do so! So know I can't do that or I gotta shell out even more of my money to do so, because of their mistake! All the previous motors had heat treated rods and this motor is supposed to have them as well! Bottom line is weather it's na or turbo it's not right! Guess I'll start with my dealer (even though it's not their fault) and go up from there...they can either fix it or buy it back!

Any update on the rod kits? Anyone getting there's done and find out what they are putting in? Still no word on what's going on with mine here in Ontario. Kind of frustrating being almost December and the ball hasn't even got rolling yet..

No news here in Wisconsin. I got told "touch base after Thanksgiving" about a week ago.

My plan is to ride when there's snow and cry about it later IF something goes wrong. I've seen nothing from an official source telling me to not ride, I'm not planning on the flash update until they do the rods, and unless I'm told otherwise I'll use the sled the way the dealer said I could last year.

Yeah that's pretty much my plan also this season...

I'm calling my dealer this morning, but I suspect nothing has changed.
Our trails open December 11th. If there is snow, I'm picking my sled up and using it until the recall comes out or it blows up.
If it does blow up, I will expect it to be replaced under warranty. If there is a lot of the season left, I will expect to have a sled to use while mine is being repaired... I don't care who pays for it as long as it is not me. I will negotiate with Yamaha about an extension of the Warranty because of a defect THEY knew about (per dealer memo) and did not act in a timely manner. I will sue Yamaha USA if I have to... I've already talked to an Attorney friend about this.

Any word on scope? I think the contents are what was expected based on the parts number changes I've seen but the curious thing is if Yamaha was able to identify what number of sleds had the bad rods and, if they are able to ID affected units based on VIN, if they would replace rods in non-dealer installed turbo sleds.

well its confirmed. I called my dealer yesterday and he informed me the bulletin came out tuesday here in ontario at least. He has not seen the kit yet but has some on order and has assured me my machine will be done in december!!! :sled2::Rockon:
