Just put a 162" apex track on a Phazer Mountain.

I used a 162 " maverick track ported and cut down to 14 " and Apex rails both real cheap to find .

For the suspension I did go with the Mountain tamer set up.

The Apex skid is set back 3" that gives the set up a super shallow approach angle but puts us of the original drop bracket.
(I will build a nicer aluminium one later)

After the first ride I was impressed after the second in the mountains I was amazed.

This is the most gain I have ever had from a mod short of going turbo.

This thing climbs like mad in 2 feet of powder it takes 1/2 the power to get around --she just slides up on the powder.

I had a guy offer me his summit 700 for trade the Phazer easily went everywhere the 6 and 700cc two strokes ( 2003 summit 700) went.
Gearing is stock and the secondary is 10-degrees tightened that is it.

The sled has a few slight mods like a hartman exhaust and Gen. 2 skis but all stock besides that.

For anyone who is frustrated with the stock Mountain Phazer this is your fix --------- my girlfriend totally loves it.

Hey PowderMuncher, nice change-up. I have been trying to create a real Phazer Mountain out of my MP as well. I may also go to TimberSled rear suspension to continue the weight loss program. I think these sleds have a lot to offer, to bad you can't fit a wider track into the Phazer tunnel.

I like it. 162 is a lot! I don't doubt it made it a whole new sled. The angle of attack on these is there biggest downfall. There is another guy here in idaho that put the 151 on just by moving the skid back. For me that is probably going to be the biggest gain for the least input. How did yours work out for ski pressure? where you able to keep the transfer similar to where it was before?

This mod did drop the ride height by almost 2" so tranfer is just right.

Overall it is more pleasant to ride on hard-pack and of trail - no more

tipiness and the Mountain tamer gives a surprisingly smooth ride.

I feel that the angle of attack is the biggest difference, so a 151 with the

3" setback to get the same angle of attack will probably get you good gain

and you can run stock rails and drivers. There are also lots of Nytro 153"

take of tracks and drivers around that would work great

That said the soft 162" Maverick track works so perfect with 80 HP Phazer

Engine there is absolutely no need for a wider track once you go 162.

Did you use the Apex Mountain Tamer or the Phazer MT and what length of Apex rails did you use. Are they tip-up rails or flat? And, why did you lose 2" of ride heigth? I thought the suspension looked pretty flat.

Mountain tamer is for the Phazer and the rails and track are stock Apex

with the tip up rails.

In the Picture the frond end may be in a bit of a hole-- the sled looks way

more level.

Come to think I had stiffer springs in the stocker so the ride hight may be

more like what stock springs would gife you.

The MT tamer suspension seems to sit high in the stroke but drop a fair bit

with a riders weight ( set up for here) she is light. :-o

Math?...
How were you able to put a 162" track on a 162" rail after you set the skid back 3"? Seems like the track would have been short...

Did I miss something?

Looking at Mtn Tamer for my GF Phazer and putting on 3.0" drivers and running 153" Nytro rails and 153" Nytro track or I'd really love a PowerClaw 153 on there....

Yes You did miss something so did I at first ----- the Phazer has such a bad approach angle because the skid is set exactly like the short track. All other Mountain sleds (Yamaha) start life with a set back to get the better approach angle. So this means you can go 151 with the stock skid and no other mods besides the set back.

cheers......

153" track

Murph,

If you decide to go this route with the 153" i have a pull off of an 09 that had 120 miles on it before i swapped it out. In the box and ready to ship.

Let me know,
Joe

Here she is with the new tunnel and finally storage on a phazer.

I call here "little Mule" my other mod is a lightweight Apex

With bark buster ZX2 skid MM seat and custom exhaust and Tunnel mod.

Head light delete and stainless steel riser.

Thats it for this season no more wrenching just riding from now on.

Streched out.........

Almost completed:
2007 Phazer MTX MCxpress turbo, Custom intake & Exhaust.

CR Racing 166" tip up Tunnel

162" Apex track cut down to 14"

Moved skid back 2" and Tracks usa 7.5" extension.

Working on Air Shock instead of springs.

Will post pics soon.

PM--- which method did you use for cutting down(narrowing) the Apex track?

I need to cut down my Nytro track for the Phazer.

Me like! Do I want it, far from it.

Hey PM, I'm setting up Val's Phazer with the Nytro track.

Do you mind taking a closeup photo of your front and rear mount points.

Just want to compare notes.

Thanks
Murph
