I got a set of spoked yamaha wheels for free from the dealer this fall. I still have the original wheels since I took them off undamaged at about 150 miles in marginal conditions. I put on a set of wheels from Richierich that went 800 miles without a problem. Including marginal conditions the last weekend in March in St. Michel de Saints where the other rider I was with toasted his stock inner wheels on his GT.

my 06 smoked 3 wheels. Dealer replaced, zero problems after that. 06 vextor no wheel problems. Also sounds like your track was WAY to tight. I smoked 3 wheels under minimal snow and rode 200 plus miles. I did replace my hyfax, but only after 1000 miles and still 60%. i wanted the graphite hyfax.
my only complaint with the RTX is the handwarmers. Still waiting, still have cold hands. wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i always kept my track on my old rx1 fairly tight using the two finger guide and never had a problem. if i ran it any looser then it would ratchet so this is how i set the tension on my apex is this too tight? does the apex have problems with ratcheting if it is not fairly tight like the rx1 did? thanks

That's great news! What sort of conditions have you been riding in?
Reading on here it sounded like the RTX (proactive skid) was going to go through sliders very fast.
A buddy with an 05 Vector found his sliders wore much worse than my 05 RX-1 so that also suggested the RTX going through sliders fast.
Did you install the optional accessory wheels (6 idlers total) or is it 100% as shipped?

I have an 07 so hopefully the new wheels last better than they did in 06. Has anyone been having problems with the 07s. Hopefully we get snow here in Canada this winter so I can find out. They are predicting high temps here again this weekend so not sure when I will get my 1st ride.
3865 miles on my "06" Attak, no idler problems and changed the hyfax after last season but still had some left. Dealer gave me new idlers this year but were o.k. as far as the rubber goes. Removed my entire skid after last year and went through every bearing and popped the seals out, cleaned them and regreased them with a good synthetic grease. Can't change just bearings like my old doos, also did the drive bearing and it needed it. When will they put in a zerk? Repainted the skid after cleaning it up and it looks like new now. Just waiting for snow in Wisconsin or wherever!

LMAO, Shaf nailed it.
Heck yes the track was too tight to be going 105 MPH on a new sled with 9 miles on it. He didnt run the first 20 miles at moderate speeds to do the initial stretching which is quite a bit, and it is why they set the track tight from the factory.
It is true at least the inner wheels would have delaminated eventually, but to have everything shot in 11 miles means there was a lot of pressure and heat.

And I thought you were upset about only having put on 11 miles.

Last year, I put 2400 miles on my 06 RTX. Never delaminated the wheels and hyfax still had 500-800 miles left on it....and I rode marginal conditions a lot.
I did get my wheels changed through warranty and did replace my slides but I didn't think it was too bad.
I got lucky because my buddy went through about 6 wheels last year on his ER. In fact, one set of wheels only lasted 3 miles...lol

i know a few buddies have 07 apex`s that have delaminated the inner wheels. they went on a 100 mile ride and both had bad wheels when they got back to the truck. i think the bad batch of wheels is bogus. i think there is something with the rails flexing and the inner wheel are tilting which is causing them to hit the rubber nubs that they run between causing the rubber on the wheels to get chewed off. the dealer wouldn`t say but i could tell they agreed with me. they replaced the two inner wheels on an apex last year 5 times!
