i rode 11 miles today on the lake with 2-3 inches of snow. the two inner wheels are completely chewed off and the sliders are almost junk. had to lift the sled and step on the track to get the sliders unstuck. on my rx1 i put the larger wheels to fix the slider problem but never had a problem chewing up idler wheels. a buddy of mine went today and just replaced all small wheels with the larger ones and had no slider issues but his two inner wheels were chewed up in 10 miles.

Sounds like a melt down to me. Marginal snow conditions at high speed. No lube for the slides when riding on bare ice. Can"t believe it"s a problem with the inner wheels under normal riding conditions 6 plus inches of snow with some base. Problem might be with the handle bar holder too much gas not enough snow.!

If that sled is an 06, the wheels are junk and will be replaced under warranty from Yamaha.

Is this a brand new sled 07 with zero miles on to start with? I would be pissed to,unless there was something stuck in to a slide clip that was chewing up the slides, but how and heck did the inner two wheels go bad so quick,we did have some wheel failures last year, and alot of my miles were on lakes like you guys just rode on,at very high speed to,but still 1" of snow should be enough,if everything is ok,heck Mr.sled and the boys last year ripped it up from zero miles out on rice lake, and they were on mostly bare ice to very hard packed snow, and they were running 114-118 mph radar with no wheel problems,so how tight was your track tentioned to,and did you check track aligment? Because when i first picked up my sled,i thought the track was tight to,but after a couple of runs it stretched real quick, and got out of alignment to boot, just a thought, but dont be to hard on yourself,at least you have ice and some snow, thats more than we have here in Maine, just get two wheels from your dealer, check everything in the skid frame, and go try again, you may want to take up your limiter just one hole from stock, that will pull it off the slides just enough for them long high speed runs, but for giggles how did she run speedo wise?

1100 miles on my Attak with original hyfax and still at 3/4 or more material left. Yes, the rear inner wheels will delaminate and need to be replaced. Not a big deal. They'll be replaced at no cost to you.

2 or 3 inches on a lake should have been plenty. Pull your strap up and make sure your track isn't over tightened and make your dealer replace your wheels and Hyfax

I'll make a guess.
Many come with the tracks too tight.
I have always thought sliders last a lot longer when they go through some heat/cool cycles on the trail for a few hundred miles before heading to the lake.

Had to replace mine as well. Yamaha says they got a bad batch of wheels from their supplier and will replace them at no charge. I went with after market graphite slides, my dime.

Before AND after runs you can drag your feet and direct snow into the track for lube.If you stop "Hot" you may stick the clips.
When the track is hot enough to stick the clips to the slider you may have already done interior track damage and track life may be shortened.
