Looking to swap out the stock 129 2.86 rip II 4 studs per bar to a 128 x 14 (or 15 wide) 2.52 rip II studded up the middle with avid drivers. 14 wide would give plenty of clearance in the tunnel. Anybody with any experience with this yet? My drivers need to be shifted towards the chaincase 1/8 inch or so anyways to help with alignment. So with a 14 wide 1.250 rip II I would lose a little traction with width but pick up a couple more lugs on the ground and get rid of the quiet drive nubs on the inside. Im just looking to get a good efficient fast trail sled/lake race for fun setup without getting crazy on a high boost tune. As of now the track is all over the place when trying to align and has rubbed both sides of tunnel at times, yes I have JT 4th wheel kit too. What do the procross gurus do to make this chassis work better? (My stock 2012 apex xtx would turn better top speed numbers on a snowy rr grade than this thing can do). Shouldn't need a tune to run better than a stock ape right? Belt life seems ok, 1000 miles per belt, and see no obvious red flags, runs great, shimmed helix, good rpms, a bullet to 100 then blah..... Thoughts ???

Possible boost leak, no way, no how should an Apex run with or exceed the ET or speed of a Winder. You've got something really wrong there!

When I picked up my Winder, I brought it home and crawled thru everything in it, I found the clamp crooked off the charge tube on the bottom of the turbo, the clamp wasn't even on the bottom of the hose! Or perhaps you have one of those with inverted hoses and not making boost. I'd be looking for the lost power before being worried about a MPH or two in the track!

I assume you have a Sidewinder. There is no way that your Apex should be able to beat your Sidewinder in top end..NO WAY!!

If it were me, I'd be checking other things beside the track. Something is wrong with your Winder if it can't do more than, or barely over 100 mph. 204 HP vs 160 HP ...ya something is wrong for sure!

Start checking things...other than the track imo.

Don't get me wrong this winder will smoke the apex 0-100 but it seems to struggle over 100 on snow. My apex would top out better than a stock 1100 t cat on snow but not ice. I never had a place to hold the sw wide open on ice to see what it would do.

What's your rpm doing on top if boast is dropping rpm should drop but I've talked to some guys who did change over on vipers that made a big difference but sindwinder not sure should pull 115 mph so something is wrong

Rpms are good on it 8800+ so I can't see it being a power loss. Yeah I'm missing out on about 10 mph on top somehow. I don't know maybe my expectations were to high? Hope there's good snow to test from home this winter, I dont like wrenching on a trip up north

This is where the driver alignment, 14 wide track idea comes from. I'm always chasing the track alignment around. It's a pain to get it centered in the back and after a ride it seems to always favor this side. It's been like this from day 1 so it's not bent from riding it or anything. Just thinking at high speed if things aren't perfect it's easy to lose mph. It could even be a junk track from factory? Am I crazy for wanting to change drivers and track??

Personally, I wouldn't be changing the drivers. And if I were you, I'd bring it to the dealer and have them go through it with a fine tooth comb! I don't think putting a new narrower track and new drivers is going to solve your top end problem (but I'm no mechanic either).

And it should DEFINITELY not be struggling after hitting 100 mph!! Not with the power that this sled produces, and the new improved clutching to go along with that power should be rocketing you past 100 mph like nothing you've ever rode before... that isn't having too high expectations either.

Bring it in and have it gone through.

Whenever I've struggled to align the track properly regardless of brand I discovered drive sprockets misaligned. Will pay close attention to the new one when it comes in. 4th wheel kit as well.

I struggled with track alignment from day 1 also. Resorted to just doing both bolts even and riding. 10000 mi later track delaminates so replaced with same Rip2 but also put introvert drivers on. According to my measurements old set and new we're within .030 in of each other at the hubs. Now my track can very easily be aligned. Goes right where wanted and 1/8 turn makes it move over noticeably. So although not positive in my case the track was the culprit. I agree with these guys though. For top end the name of game is POWER. More is better. Gearing, tracks, clutching etc all adds up but nothing like a big power boost.

Lol..if you got 10,000 mikes out of a track...you have done REAL REAL WELL!!! But perhaps cwcsrx700 does have a bum track on his Winder as well. But even if that's the case...that Winder should still be blasting past the Century Mark like a raped ape regardless imo.

Yup for sure. That's why I bought same track. He has two issues. I just posted my experience to point out that my track and driver change did not really gain Any more than a few mph even though alignment was fixed and drag was greatly reduced.

It just looks like the drivers need to go towards chaincase 1/16 or so, and if I tear into it that far parts are getting changed out. I,ve never seen such a rubbed up side of track before, I melted the strings on the edge several times so it doesnt look so bad. I know the sled is making the power, good rpms and its a rocket to 100
so Im gonna try things in this order with the drive train. Track, new or realign drivers, suspension and chain case inspection, clutches. I will get into the hoses and clamps to double check things of course beforehand per Mike Knapp. I have a super low miles apex primary to try also. Heck I'll put a button secondary on it and clutch it like my turbo nytro was to see if that helps?
It's crazy how fast it gets there and then just like a switch the speed only increases a click here and there... might have to put boost gauge on it to watch that also? We need snow lol

But if you problem was really the track and drivers...would it really get to 100 mph that fast??? It just seems like it's something other than the track and drivers imo. Not saying you don't have a problem with your track etc, but why would it just hit a brick wall at 100?? That's why I think it's something else that's shutting that Beast down.

I wish you the best, and hope you find the problem quickly, and get that Rocket going like it was meant to go!!

I just know the higher the speeds the more important it is for everything to be perfect. On a wfo run it makes a difference on how you are tucked in behind the windshield and where you sit etc. where at lower speeds it doesn't matter.
