I am looking for advice. I installed a 11mm sway bar on my sled and I think it is to stiff. Last spring I talked with a Yamaha tester at Pat's Yamaha in the UP and he told me to install the longer links and keep the 11mm bar installed. He said this would give you the feeling of a 10.5mm sway bar. Could this possible be true? I seem to get different opinions on this subject all the time. Please help. I am looking for some expert advice
Thanks

In my opinion, go with the longer links and keep the 11mm sway bar. It eliminates some of the ski lift, but you need to install straight rate springs as well. Upgrading the stock skis will help too.

They probably misunderstood you.
1) 11mm bar with long links-stiffest/flatest cornering
2)11mm bar with short link-stiff/flat cornering
3)10mm bar with long links-stiff/flat cornering
4)10mm bar with short links-least stiff/least flat cornering(03 RX-1)
04 RX-1 has longer links, 11m bar and straight rate 1.9 front springs, this combination gave flatter cornering without making stiffer. ('03 RX-1 used 1.9-3.0 springs)

I have the 12mm Sway Bar and I will be putting a set of 2.3 Straight Rate Springs with an easy adjuster on the front. I will not put the links on my sled. There is not much improvement with the links and swaybar alone. It's in the springs.

RX1-ZIBBY, What makes you think yours is too stiff?

Hey guys I had no idea about the 12mm sway bar. What front springs are you talking about? I'm lookink for the best handling front end as I ride hard and got left behind in the trails. Hate that. Just let me to a strait away or a lake and I'm gone.
I thought it handled great on smooth flat trails. In the bumps or if I launched a it would feel very stiff and tippy. Will the 04 springs mount right on my 03. To all that are giving feed back it is much aprreciated.
Thanks

RX1-ZIBBY, Yes the 04 Yamaha springs will work but you may be able to get the same straight rate spring from Maxxium Performance at a cheaper cost. Here is their website: http://www.maxxperf.com/
If you end up deciding to not use your 11mm bar, I may be interested in buying it from you. I have the longer links but was also looking at getting a larger diameter sway bar.

Thanks I think I will try the 11mm sway bar and the longer links first and see how it goes. If I'm still not satisfied I will try a pair of springs. I have been reading a lot about clutch kits and gearing. As far as everyone is concerned what have you tried and what works best? My experience with Bender with my 2000 SRX is that it was great 1/8 or1/4 mile but fell on it's face after that. Got to be able to hold it across the 5 mile lake or it's no good up here in Canada. Thanking in advance for any information.

Regarding the sway bar then the springs, I would do it the other way around (springs first). This is based on my riding with the 11mm swaybar. I also saw where the guys at SnowTech said to do the springs first, then the sway bar. Just my opinion.

Hey Swiss...yeah you are probably right. Good idea because you can install the swaybar on the side of the trail in about 10 minutes. You can't do that with the springs...The greatest impact on front end-handling is in this sequence...
1. Sway Bar
2. Springs
3. Links
I have talked to many who say they noticed a difference when they changed the sway bar, but not much difference bewteen JUST the sway bar alone OR the Links AND Swaybar :? :? . I do not anticipate a big difference with the links and swaybar.
Talk to Bruce at Pioneer Perfromance. He is making his own set of springs. He also sells the Sway Bars, Links, etc.

I will probably end up with
My 12 MM Bar (which I found to help alot)
Straight Rate Springs $89 a PAIR
Woody Dooly's - for the darting fix...

RXWonder, I'm doing about the same. Links and swaybar are already installed, doing the springs and Simmon's Flexi Ski dual runners. The conventional wisdom for eliminating the ski lift has been to install the straight rate springs and replace the stock skis. I cannot wait to find out!

hey RXwonder, if you're having darting problems make sure your toe-in or toe-out is adjusted correctly or turn the transfer rods up just a little bit or let the limiter straps out a little bit.

Yeah JT you are right. If you look on the Pioneer Website, they have a separate listing for the 04' 12mm Swaybar's. I figured that they must be different but I was not sure what changed.
Thanks SPEC I will check tonight...
