2005 Manitoba TY Ride Info

srxtwins, when you do the bird lake trip, phone there the day before or that morning and make sure he has gas at least for the 2 strokes as they probably won't make it without carrying extra fuel. I made it with my RX1 from Pine Falls to Lac du Bonnet on one tank. There is also Tall Timber near the mouth of the bird river but the 2 strokes may not make that either and I heard that Tall Timber may not be open full time this year either. Better to be safe than sorry. Anyway we'll talk one of these weekends when we can get together for that coffee!

Srxtwins, congradulations on a great trip. Due to the size of your group, along with the 24 riders in our group, we have made changes to our trip format.

We will be starting our trip as originally planned but we will be meeting our Winnipeg friends near Carman. We will be spending four days riding west and north of Winnipeg in deep snow country??? before heading back to Ontario.

thanks for the congrats scooby.

I am working to make this a trip to remember for everyone. I hope that your group can find a way to meet up with everyone to at least say hi and shake hands. Hope you all have a great trip.

srxtwins, Most of our guys will be Polaris and Doo riders. The Yamaha part of our group would love to meet up with you guys but we have to make compromises to get along. We will try to meet up before we swing west around Winnipeg. The trip just keeps expanding. The people the boys talked to on their bike trip planning this trip want to meet up along the way and is causing us planning nightmares.

I grew up in southern Manitoba and believe me it can cold there. -30 C is not uncommon so make sure to have the gear electric visor is a must. It is not always that cold there norms during the day would be -10C to -20C but it can get colder.

Amen to that! Two winters ago (same dates as this trip) -20 was a warm day. Starting out in the morn was -30 and colder. Worst was Kenora Ontario, -36 when we got up. Buddys RX-1 fired up no problem. My 1000 tripple needed two hairdriers for 20 minutes. Then it started just fine. Was still a fun trip cold or not. Last year was the -10 -20 thing and it was perfect. Three winters ago was +5 to -10 for a night low and was way to warm but hey mother nature will decide.

Are we supposed to register with some one or do we just show up ? So far there is Smokey and my self and posibly two others all Yamahas. We
plan on riding thursday and friday . Two days is all I can take ,unless that new Venture rides that much better than the 97 .

Guys regarding snowpasses, (I know that pricing has been posted already, but) prices for 2004-2005 - On or Before December 1st-$70.00; After December 1st-$100.00; 7-day passes-$40.00 so I have sent them an e-mail asking them if these can be purchased directly if you phone or email them with your visa. If you plan on riding in the Province a couple or more times, you could buy early and save yourselves some money. Anyway here is the link to there site.....otherwise you can buy the 7 day pass in probably any rural town. These prices are in Canadian $, the way the exchange rate is going you will be saving that much more by buying 3 months early :D

K, just got mail back from them, they don't take visa but will take cheques, so you can contact the organization directly via the site I posted above, send them a cheque and get your pass ahead of time via mail, then all you have to do when you get here is check into your motel, unload and ride!!!!

As I had stated earlier in the post there will be sno passes available at the motel from myself. If anyone wishes to purchase a season pass early I can arrange that also but it will have to be done soon as dec. 1st is the deadline for discounts. The advantage of getting the passes through me will ensure that the local clubs who's trals we will be riding will get a percentage of the snow pass money for future trail care.

A new development as of a meeting last night. One of the local clubs "The Brokenhead Trailblazers"will be hosting a "potluck" dinner for us after saturdays ride featuring homecooked dishes that are sure to please everyones taste buds.

Keep a close eye on the posts for this ride becuase there is sure to be more interesting information to come. :D

I'm in!!!!

Just booked my room at the Super 8 in Beausejour. Wife is planning to come too so I'll be looking forward to meeting youse guys.

Any new info would be appreciated.
