PAMikeC,
Thanks so much for your acknowlegement.
Doing projects like this takes me back to my USMC Aviator roots as a maintenance test pilot. Certainly a much different environment.
Yamaha Motors are absolutely bullet proof.
The way I have this sled set up, it is a pleasure to ride. The suspension works really well.
A letter to Yamaha, by a fellow TY member certainly wouldn't hurt.
Thank you,

25,000 miles is the first valve check on RS Motors.
Absolutely Amazing!

Thanks rxrider,
All sleds have issues.
In my opinion, this sled is a little harder on bearings than most because:
1. Its a 3 cylinder motor.
2. Has no gear reduction like the 4 cylinder.
3. The cylinders firing sequence is every 270 degrees.
4. The harmonics, and vibrations at certain rpm's are sent throughout the entire sled frame which causes the increased harmonic vibration that effect the bearings.
My mechanic sees more bearing problems on the 3 cylinders than 4 cylinders.
Never-the-less, I will put up with bearing replacement because the motor is so reliable, and provides great gas mileage.
You shouldn't have any problems with these motors.
Change the oil, gas, and go.
Just keep on repeating the above steps.
Have you gone to the TY-Ride section, and read my "TY-Mileage - Hondo" posts?
If not, take a look, and enjoy!
Speaking of gas what is the price in Norway now?
Thanks again,

I'll take a look there
One gallon US of regular is priced at $7.02 USD at the pump today, and you could add a few more dimes for a gallon of premium :-(,
Weather has turned colder and it has started snowing again, we have got 3-4 inches at sealevel today and a lot more in the mountains, which is great cause we still have one month left of sledding until the trails shut down at May 5.
I wish you all a great easter holiday.

Hi Dave,
We have our very own and new "TY Mileage Fun Contest Section".
below the "TY Ride Section".
This is where all the mileage contest competitors are!
I won't be riding until Janaury again. Sled is getting overhauled. Then it's balls to the wall.
Have a great visit up here. My brother is putting his sled together after summer drag racing. He will be ready to go in January also.
Take care,

Re: RS venture crakshaft failure
There was a jackshaft recall on the RS Venture, I have not heard of any crankshaft problems on any 4stroke Yamahas ever.
Read thru these threads:

I'm sure hondo can fill in the details on the recall.

There was a "jack-shaft" issue not a "crank-shaft".
There was a recall due to defective jack-shafts that were produced.
The best thing to do is to contact your dealer and see if your vin number comes as a sled vin that was recalled.
If so, dealer will order and replace the jack-shaft at no charge.
