I have a 2005 with 2300 miles on it, all put on last year in Canada. What maintenance should be done ther than the basics that I am aware of (slides, oil change, lube the suspension and check it for damage (cracks, ripped ra boot, rail damage), track tension/wear, and greese the front end)......

You have most covered.
Check stiff or rough bearings in rear suspension and check clutch side drive shaft bearing.
Change chaincase oil.
Feeling ambitious you can pull rear skid and check pivot shaft bushings. 2005s had issues.

Is there a need to clean the clutches? If so, is it difficult to do?

I would check the wheel bearings with that many miles. I bet you find they are dry.

I would defintely check the bushings, especially the A arms. Mine were trashed with only 2352 miles on it. Normal according to Yamaha. Dealer wants $300 to install jerks. When I get the time I will give it a try.

Check Clutch Alignment
Check Ski Runners for wear
Cut Snow Flap if you run over it when you back up
Install Water Temp Gauge so you will know when its getting too hot
Install fuel shut off valves
Attach Battery Maintainer

Well, guess what, I just gave the rear suspension a close inspection... Not only is the boot that covers the RA cable ripped, but the cable is completely severed!! I can only imagine how long its been like that! My issue is that I have relocted and I need a new service dealer. I am going to take it to Land & Sea in Waterbury for a once over (clutches, lube, ect). Do you think they will fix the cable with the technical service bulliten that is out?

Goog question. This is the last day of warrenty, thats why you should check out the machine in the spring before putting it away for the sumer.

Just got off the phone with Patrick at Yammi Service, told me there was three TSB's on the machine
93 ACH- Suspension adjusting wrench
93 ACL- Boot and cable
93 ACM - rear heat exchanger
I am going to call Land & Sea in the morning as my apt is not until 12/27 (first available) so at least they know the problem ahead of time. I can only hope Yammi will fix it, if not I guess I have no one to blame but myself!

My dealer said the bushings were on back order.
You might consider having them check the bearings in the boggie wheels too. I have the same miles on my 05 and they need to be replaced.

Is there a TSB for the rear heat exchanger? That would be great, mine likes to get toasty!

It is a must to regrease the jack shaft and drive shaft bearings.
The idler wheel bearings should also be greased or replaced with the 2006 whells as they have the rubber ends.

yes there is a tsb on the rear exchange but you have to pay for the exchanger,however it is at a reduced cost.

Had the rear heat exchanger installe right off last year.World of difference! This sled never even gets close to overheating anymore, no matter what the conditions. Wish I could say the same for the slides. Had to replace those. Forgot how Yamaha is about warranty stuff. Been away for a few years. Cat, Ski-doo always owed up to problems on their sleds. Might not have had the parts right-away, but they corrected the issues without invoking an "act of God". Looked at the 06"s, but I'm not ready to give my sled away to have one. Will run it another year.

So this TSB is basically adding a rear exchanger at a reduced cost??? There is no rear exchanger stock is there? I thought I remember just seeing the pipe at the rear???
