2006 Yamaha Apex RTX serious skid problem

2006 rtx 4400 miles on it. the rear skid is smoked, the hyfax is real thin just about every idler wheel is toasted, the top of the shock towards the front has been worn down by the track rubbing on it. what are my best options for replacement, buy another skid or rebuild this one, and what might cause this to do this.... PLEASE help

Rebuild would likely be cheaper than a new skid, and have heard that the Mono Skid is great skid, esp when shocks are revalved. Sounds like you would need shock maintenance, so might as well have it rebuild and revalved.

But all depends what you want, and your budget.

depending on how much the shock is worn down...you can use the shock saver that ulmer sells...and add your new slides and wheels...not a biggie

If you rebuild the shock, new slides, idler wheels your probably in the $500-600 range. Hopefully your arms are not cracked or you will need the beef up kit which is another $200+, then hope your rails are good.

All in all the mono well set up is a decent skid once you do the beef up kit and revalve to fit your weight and riding style.

To replace with something superior like a ZX2, M10, etc is going to set you back $2000

RTx is more rugged than mono...no need to beef up...havre carver revalve...wheels cheap. slides cheap..

ah if it hasn't broke tubes..you can gusset and werks yourself...thats cost effective...most likely need new bushings...Ive heard negative things about the zx2...sounds like a big investment..

There is one crack at top.of. front pivot arm. It can be weldedbut wwhere to goto buy replacement parts

Okay 265 in wheels and sliders and who knows what pioneer is gonna cost me.replaced every wheel and bushing so far. Had a crack in the top of front pivot arm. Grinded it down and rewelded it good to go with it thus far.
