Phazer I just bought idles at about 2400 when it is cold.
It will idle down after it is ridden for a while to around 1400.
Is this normal? Any reason to be concerned or anything to check for when I have it torn apart this summer?
I have only ridden it around the yard once since I got it and that is when I heard it idle down.

Does it always go back down to 1400?
If it always goes back down to 1400 just turn up the idle a bit. I think the manual calls for 1800-1900.

I thought about that but then it would idle too high when cold. Seems like EFI would manage idle at constant speed?

No it doesnt.Cold idle is controlled by a valve that bypasses throttle and is controlled by coolant temp.Adjusting your warm idle will not effect cold idle as much as you think.Do it to avoid a stall.

That makes sense. Thanks for the insight.

Also on mine I've noticed that if I'm just trail riding it idles at 1800 when stopped but if I've worked the sled hard enough to have the cooling fan kick in that its down to 1300-1400 for a minute or two before it comes back up to 1800rpm once the engine cools off a bit. Easy adjustment with a screwdriver though.
