hope this is the right spot for this but here it goes to start the year the battery was dead had some voltage but not enough to start so i connnected it to a battery i had it fired up right away i disconnected the cables and ran no problem went to put the hood down and noticed the tach going to the top and then to the bottom like on start up(sled ran fine) then i noticed the warning light flash twice and the self diagnosis engine symbol in the corner as well as the code of 46 which means "power source voltage is incorrect" i then shut off the sled tried starting the sled again and nothing as it was cold here i thought i would take the battery inside for a couple of days to warm up and put my optimate 3 on to complete the charge. i installed the battery and everything worked fine started up right away but still had my self diagnosis problem.after 6 days went to start the sled and nothing once i got the sled going again i checked the voltage at 2500 rpms and 4000 rpms and the voltage was constant at 14.52 and i checked the connections at the regulator. is the battery done but why the code when running? was this due to boosting from a battery which was the same voltage? can it be something simple as the sled runs fine(didn't run it for too long) any help will be appreciated thanks
The sled will not run for long with a bad battery. Also, sleds can not fully charge a significantly discharged battery.
Charge the battery fully, out of the sled. Load Test the battery. The load test will tell you if the battery s good or not. Most Auto parts store will load test for free.
You indicate the charging voltage was > 13 VDC, so the fully charged battery will stay charged.
battery load tested that it had a short in it, bought a new battery dropped it in, put it back together and started right up and the code never appeared end result bad battery
