I have found 2 great deals on 2 great sleds just wondering which one I should get.
I like the EPS on the xtx, but with all the problems with limiter straps/hyfax and EXUP breakage-adjustments etc. which one is more reliable?
Also which one is the overall better performer?

I wouldn't let the fear of a broken limiter strap sway your decision. Hyfax wear is an issue on all Yamaha 's; put a set of Dupont on and forget about it.
To my knowledge, there are no major exup issues, maybe a few isolated occurrences. Anything can break for no apparent reason.
IMO, the LTX is a better ride. The CK 144 is a stiff bee-otch, but the power steering is awesome! It's six for one and half a dozen for the other.
Let us know what you decide.
How much $$$ difference between the two?

Just my 2 cents, you would be crazy to not go for the EPS. I guess it depends how much you ride. The Hyfax is fixed with by adding the Dupont Slides, done.
If you run studs then the exup needs to be protected well.
With the proper care they are both bulletproof.

the XTX will out perform the ltx in power, speed, and acceleration and it gets slightly better fuel mileage than the 09. Bitch when you get it stuck but honestly I'd go with XTX for sure. Blows my 06 away, rode with a buddy who has an 11 XTX traded sleds for a few hours and I did not want to give it back.

I honestly think your only complaint with the XTX would be a stiff ride, but that's just me. Some really like it, some do not.
The power steering and torque of the '11 is awesome!

I liked it but was a short couple of hours. We raced for a minute at a rolling 35 mph we both hit it and he was gone. I could not believe how much more power it had over mine. His is bone stock by the way just snow trackers. Really had me thinking about 11-13 Apex.

the xtx.
I went from an 05 war to a nc 11 xtx. after I got the settings right, both stopped wearing sliders excessively. the apex needs a bit more setting yet but I need snow for that.
but main reason is the eps. I have carpel tunnel in my throttle hand and rotator damage on the same shoulder. I had risers on the war that helped a lot with the problems I was having but still was not perfect.
got on the apex and was able to ride almost twice as far before the problems would cause me to take a break.
I have not broken a set of limiters yet but I only have 1500miles (approx. sled has 2600km but not at home atm). still have to check exup but I am not totally done my pre-season checks yet.

love my xtx i think it is a better ride some say stiff but you can adjust that out of it if you dont like that i have not bottomed out mine yet i love that the power is unreal its like the sled has esp it knows when im about to hit the trigger and takes off like a rocket the eps is the best thing to ever happen to the apex as well

the XTX does not ride that stiff. if it's adjusted properly then it rides just as good as the RA suspension. you feel a little more of the smaller chatter but that's it. just needs to be set up with at least a 2" sit in . i'd go with the 2011 and add the tuner skis if it doesn't already have them. the EPS is a great option that i just love. you can throw all kinds of weight on the front to get it to handle. good luck.

I have not heard of the limiter strap breaking as an issue on these sleds. I got my 13 XTX and put 2300 miles on it in a month. Went through several sets of slides but put Duponts on. I have just over 800 miles on them and it doesn't look like there is any wear on them yet.
I think my exup is either out of adjustment or the cable may have broken. I'm going to take it in for repair. So far that is it! The XTX rocks!

The electrically adjustable ohlins shock on the LTX GT really helps tailor the ride. The xtx has a great ride on longer straight trails.
I am looking hard at the new viper ltx and selling my 09 apex ltx GT and in vermont if interested.

2011 EPS XTX MCX
9989 KM , 2011 EPS XTX MCX 295HP SINCE NEW. No issues , no failures , just fast and fun. The XTX is only as stiff as you make it !
A great sled all Around !
PS , New track, bearings and Duponut added at 9989 km.

i added 2 sets of the marginal wheels along with the oversize idlers and hyfax wear is no longer an issue. i've got over 3600KM on a set of regular sliders and they still look good. i also have never had any issues with the limiter strap, although i did bring it up one from the longest setting to place more weight on the front. the only issue i've had is the dealer installed the studs for the previous owner and they had them too close to the centre which caused the stud heads to hit the top of the rear shock and the bottom of the front rear shock. i fixed that by restudding and moving the centre ones out farther and then installing the ulmer kit for the top of the rear shock. haven't check the front yet and waiting on a kit for it if it becomes available.
