Got the top plate drilled and tapped for a 5/16-18 bolt
Test fitting the 7/8-1 1/8 RSI adapters
Everything cleaned and ready to weld
Everything tacked to test fit.
Installed for a final fitment. I'm going to have to grind a few of the tack welds and redo them as the spacers got a littler crooked. Sunday I'll build a more accurate jig.
The stock RTX post and RSI riser I was using before weighed 4 lbs 5 oz. My new post with the RSI adapter weighs 3 lbs but it's not fully welded yet.

Looking great!
I see you still have the sway bar on that subframe. Will you be running a sway bar?

I have a 2009 subframe I'm using and I do not run the swaybar, haven't since I've owned the sled. I want to try and build a chromoly tube chassis over the winter hence the extra 2008 sub frame in the pic.
Finally after a summer of messing around with a aftermarket skid and building/testing custom skids I have one that is going in. As it sits it weighs 42 pounds, just needs a couple more cross bars and a I'm building a all steel anti stab kit since I stabbed one track and broke two anti Stab kits last year but I should still end up less than 44 lbs down from 50 last year.
Also I got my front end on and stock shocks in since my evol's wouldn't clear the upper a arm. I found no signs of flexing in my sub frame but I would always bend my front end and my a arms were destroyed but with the new front end its perfectly streight. So I have not been bending it just the a arms, now with a way tougher front end and I'm using a structural skid plate for strength I don't think I will be bending it every weekend anymore.
I made some progress on finishing my tunnel 4130 tonight and hope to make more headway tomorrow with pictures to follow. I'm don't messing around with random ideas so hopefully
It will come together fast.

They are a sweet skid and my conventional spring cat skid I ran last year was tough as nails. This one should be just as tough since its on my same 07 rails.
Well I only made it one night with being happy with my skid lol, I'm going to put this in but I have the next design in my head that will be a hybrid. Cat float skid I'm hoping to get down around 35-38 lbs. I really need to get more weight off the front of my sled, even with moving the cooling system and battery out back I think I will still have removed more weight in the rear than the front and I really want to be removing from the front.

I got my CMX cooler kit. Only $199 + S&H for two 6' lengths and the crosspiece. The same VE kit in WPS is $299.
cooling fins on the inside as well
Ready to weld
Here's the old IQR cooler for comparison

I guess that should give enough cooling
Now that I have a skid set up that I'm using for sure I finished up my running boards and its coming together.
On a side note, I just moved and don't have a computer for now so I can only do one picture a post using my phone.

Z broz front end mounted up with my stock shocks since my evol X's won't clear so I have new shocks ordered.
Tunnel mounted up and its starting to look like a sled again
And the last project of the night was my new drop brackets for the cat skid. Got them notched and tacked on then i will plate the inside with .080 for the bolt to go through. Will finally be ready for powder coating tomorrow.

On Friday I ordered all 140' of the tube I need for the next chassis. Should be in here in a couple weeks along with my Poo drivetrain.
I'd have been done this week but the HCR skid I bought was in terrible condition, so I returned and found a brand new 2010 Float skid for $200 less I borrowed rlcofmn's skid and put it on my rails to make sure everything checked out. In the pic the front rails are off the ground. That's because CF's use a longer track shock so the mounting hole in the rails is 7/8" further back than an M series. Once I drill new holes it will bring the front of the skid down. Since I won't have my new skid for a few weeks I'm just going to put it all back together with the Expert-X and ride it until I'm ready to swap skids. The Float skid sure doesn't look as cool but my angle of attack is a lot better.
On a side note, that OFT axle is ridiculously over built. There is no way I'm running the stock cat axle and wheels after seeing that beautiful piece in person.

Been playing around with some different layouts for the tube chassis. The green is 1x1/2, red 3/4 round, blue 1/2 square, and pink 1/2 round. I'm sure I'll change my mind about a hundred times before I actually start cutting tube.
I took a bunch of pictures today but I don't feel like posting them right now so here is the one that shows the progress. The 4130 work is done. Everything fit up great. Going in to be powder coated on wed all that is left to finish before then is reducing my old drop brackets from 1/4" to .100 plates just for connecting the top and bottom 4130 bar together and displace the mounting of it over a larger area in the .060 tunnel. Then I need to make my .100 structural skid plate.
