I rode my 2010 Ltx for the first time last night. I pulled it out of the trailer and it was a little sluggish starting in -5 C. I think, before I have an issue starting,I will replace the battery.
The factory battery is YTX20L-BS and, as I understand it, the 20HL is a better alternative. Does it fit directly in the machine or are modifications required. I read something about needing to modify the battery box.
Is this the case or is it a direct replacement?
Cheers and ride safe

I just did this yesterday. I had to cut a slot down the negative cable side of the battery cover to allow it to stretch over the 20HL.
Not a big deal, nobody will ever see it anyhow.

Sweet, I guess its worth it, This is my first sled without a pull start so my OCD is kicking in thinking about possible battery failures
On a side note: do you have the starter stuck warning light installed? I just replaced the starter relay and was thinking about this mod.

No I do not. I've thought about putting it on though.

My original lasted 7 years. But it cranked a bit slow once last winter, so I didn't wanna push my luck.
I keep my sleds on a tender year around. I believe that helps alot.

Then I suppose I will just go with that one. It is only $79 compared to $137 both. If it lasted you that long it should serve my needs. I normally charge over the summer as well.

I changed the battery this year on my 08 and went from the 20L to the 20HL with no battery box modifications. I had the batteries side by side and they are the same dimensions

Replaced the original Yuasa YTX20L-BS with the upgraded 330 cranking amps Yuasa YTX20HL-BS and it fits perfect with no modifications required.

I guess that's what I get for saving a buck on a different brand. Oh well, just the cover & the cut I made affects nothing.
