2010 Yamaha Vector
Hello all, new to the site but I've gained knowledge lurking.
I'm having some weird issues with my 2010 Vector. Intermittently it will throw a 037 code Idle Control Valve. I've swapped in a new one and both it and the old one function normally using the dash and manually actuating them. I've gone through the ground blocks and wiring connectors all good. Newer battery and charging around 14v while running.
When there is no code the motor runs good/normal. When the code rears its head it runs like it's missing, high idle and fuel consumption gets bad and it smells really rich.
I'm getting to my wits end. Has anyone had a similar issue that was caused by something other than a bad Idle Valve making it throw the 37 code? IE bad injector, vacuum leak, bad coil? Or do I have bad wire somewhere? The wiring loom seems in excellent shape(no mouse damage etc).
Sorry for being long winded and thanks in advance for any help. I'm going on a 5 day trip in 2 weeks and my trip will be cancelled as I can't take the Vector the way it is.

Have you checked the non-grounding blocks that bring other color wires together?

I've gone through all blocks I could find. I just had it running while there is no code present and unplugged the ISC and there is no change in rpm(1700) and no engine light or code flashing. I would think the idle would change or something with it unplugged?

What colors are the wires at the ISC plug?

2 red/yellow for power. Red/grey. White/blue. Pink/blue. Brown/blue.

This is the 1049 in a cat 7000, but id think this is similar to yours.
So you have the three red/yellow in that connector block and also four pink/blue in the other. Flip the tops of those open and slide out the metal joiner and inspect.

I will look for those blocks tomorrow morning. Just had it out for a ride and it was come and go with the code. No rhyme or reason when it throws the code or clears, so I'm thinking it's wiring somewhere.
On a sidenote do you own the AC zr7000? I'm leaning towards getting one of those. Found a couple at a reasonable price. I want to sit up a bit more(getting old) and I'm 6'3" and the Vector is feeling cramped a bit.

No, it's a customers.
You'll definitely like it as it is more comfortable with a better suspension.
I'd recommend at least a 2017 or newer as there were some issues with the early years.

What are the issues with the earlier years prior to 2017? I'm looking for those blocks now. You aren't all that far from me and you must be having a good season as we actually have decent conditions our way for a change.lol
Thanks for taking the time to help out it is much appreciated.

Only 2 blocks I could find off the harness where the ISC wires are.

The other block lower down. All are clean. The 2 square blocks the upper has black wires only. The block beside the throttle body has only red/white wires, no red/yellow. I don't see any other blocks.

I found a 2016 seat from a vector that makes me sit up higher on my 2010 vector. Glad I did. Big difference. And I wonder if I have a ICV on my 2016. Got cold idle issues. Warmed up it's perfect all day.

I don't have a one like yours here at the moment so I can't say for sure where to look, except near the fuel rail.
Sometimes they are wrapped along the harness in electrical tape.

I looked at the parts diagram and can't find anything named Idle control valve.

The 16 with computer controlled throttle with different modes has no icv. All controlled by electronic throttle at throttle body.
