2011 XRS 800ETech- Welcome to the blown motor club!

I was under the impression that the shop that was drilling the cases and oiling the bearings on the original series III 600 (500ss) motor quit doing the mod because it didn't work. Seems like they were also a marine type shop? I think I saw the thread over on Doo-talk.

What I don't understand is how Polaris sells mostly 2-strokes that used oiled bearings and an injection system that is not as clean as Doo's. I didn't think they sold enought FST's and Fronteirs to provide them with enough emission credits?

Four 800Rs in our group including me plus a 800 ETEC. Two 800Rs went down this year, one at 4400 miles and the other at 2500 miles. Ring failure on both of them, one on the mag side and the other on PTO side. The 4400 mile one went through his motor top to bottom, the crank was ut of spec on the pto side. Also the 800R/ETEC is a monoblock so one cylinder repair cost the price of two.

As far as the 800 ETEC in our group his secondary tower riped the bolts out of the tunnel causing the secondary to hit the primary. His dealer half #*$&@ fix it, and he is not happy with Skidoo at all.

On the flip side I could not be happier with my sled except for the ticking in my head when I have the flipper to the grip.

Also should mention I have not had any belt problems but the other guys except the ETEC burn belts as fast as gas. Not a fan of skidoo clutches but after some aftermarket stuff they seem to work OK.

Mark Hildebrand at sea doo clinic has those updated crank still only getting about 2800 out of them
