What could Yamaha offer to make you buy a new sled?

I would like to see them do one major model change every three years and be tweaking existing models like they do now in between those yesrs. By tweaks I mean better skis, power steering, heat exchanger upgrades to etc
. Which will give them time to test these upgrades for the three year revamps. As far as major changes im thinking a phazer vector cross bread which is light at 120hp . Maybe a new srx model with a tuned down motor off their jetski. Better and longer term fixed financing. Yamahas can put on huge dependable miles as we know. Almost like a car. For a couple to buy two new sleds and a trailer with gear its a $30,000.00+ investment. In this economy that is difficult to swallow for most. If they came up with gap insurance and financing that wasn't like a credit card I bet they could sell more. Teaming with aftermarket suppliers like they are doing with mpi etc will cut down on engineering costs and help the small guys succeed. Who cares who makes the stuff as long as it works and lasts. Lock em in to long term contracts and add their success to our sleds. Say c&a skis on all, sled start lights on all, hygear suspensions, light weight excel exhausts, adjustable rox risers etc. Make big volume deals with people like this and have them already on the sleds. Im sure all under yamaha name. You don't see Ford putting their suppliers names on their cars. All of these things would increase customer base, sales and start putting us ahead of the curve. Cause this thing of adding one thing like power steering isn't causing most people to buy a new sled when their old one lasts forever. My over winded two cents.lol

If Yam goes clean sheet it will be an all Yam sled & clean sheet is what is needed. BUT Poo used a lot of aftermarket stuff & people seemed to like them.... I thought that was a failure of Poos engineering but more than 1 way to catch fish.

put the Apex MTX on a little diet bump it to around 190-200 horse and call it a day... :rules

Lol they dont even make the Apex MTX anymore, how much more of a diet can you get? :jump:

I honestly believe Yamaha will turbo or supercharge the 2012 Venture to replace Apex. They offer them on mountain sleds now for test base & input. The Venture is basically an Apex with nytro motor. It would be around 180 HP & I believe about 30 lbs. less with charger on it. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but it sounds logical. They already have the technology, parts & testing done. Everybody raves about the Venture with EPS. Add more power & WELL.... there you are. Just my 2 cents. If they don't do it maybe i will...

Build a crossover sled that has:

bigger wheels with replaceable bearings
better skis
better front end with ball joints and bushings that last
delete rear exhaust and open up tunnel for storage space
get rid of crap rip saw and offer deeper lug track

wait that's my Nytro!

I currently have my sled set up the way it should have been from day 1, I see no reason to replace it and start all over.

And now for something completely different!

My feet get cold easy, and I have thick warm size 12 boots to compensate. The problem is that my thick boots get wedged into the footwell, and changing riding positions is a pain. Also, if I ever have to bale my feet would be stuck.
I'd like to see an adjustable bar above the footwell that will accomodate tall boots like mine and shorter boots for those less heat - or size challenged.

Better financing?????.....You need a finacing plan for the options on your two Yammies, superchargers, yamachargers, meth, Holy crap the sleds are cheap in comparison
I am ready to buy in 2013, really like how my 07 is set up right now(have done considerable adjustments, ski shim, swaybar, springs etc), more durable exhaust,(though rear exhaust rocks!!) different look plastics/graphics maybe new chassis though the Apex very comfortable for me..the weight??? helps keep the beast grounded over small woopps and drifts. More techno goodies in the guage pod, water temp, outdoor temp, oil pressure, compass?/ etc.

The running board heat exchangers are important for keeping feet warm in the same manner hot grips did, and for the structure of the running board. The Yamahas without them had flimsy running boards. They could still put more under the tunnel. What is wrong with the stock Yamaha skis?
Try aftermarket skis and it will be pretty clear. Stock skis are lacking...

Coolant temp and oil pressure gauges.

I'll add another thought to my original post. I've got a 4 year old daughter and have started thinking about getting her a Z120 or a XC120 pretty soon, If Yamaha had a PZ120/Nytro 120 for next year I'd buy one in a heartbeat! Hell, bring back the SNO-SCOOT with a 125cc 4 stroke bolted in it!!!

Maybe team up with polaris and sell them the best fourstroke engine to put in the best chassis add boost and a tunnel dump Wow would that be a sled!
Polaris got a nice chassis, but it would fold like tin-foil when you add that monster power of a boosted yamaha.Got to have a strong spine to pump iron when the juices flow :yam: .But they need to drop some weight and it can be done.Look at there aftermarket skid for there nytro MTX.It saves 25pounds.Thats a damn good start.

number one is money. To be frank I dont have the money to dump 12-14k into something I use for two months only for it to be worth 8k after a year of use. I know this is all sleds, but really they are getting outta control with price.

After that take notes from Polaris on suspension. Personally I like the exhaust it sounds good and keeps it quieter and less smelly for the rider.
