2011 XRS 800ETech- Welcome to the blown motor club!

I'm suprised no one had come up with a grease zerk mod for the crank bearings........... Could even design it with an extension so it can be greased without opening the hood! Every time you stop for gas you could whip out a grease gun and give it a pump or two!

they aint giving away that isoflex grease, 2 pumps with gas is probably 15 bucks worth, just like the 15 a liter oil. they use more oil than a 60"s chainsaw yet have greased crank bearings, great engineering.

:jump: LMAO! Doo's new marketing angle, "When you stop at the pump, giv'er a pump."

I'm getting about 100 miles per quart of oil.

There are people who are rebuilding the 800r and running oil lines to the crank bearings, with good results I guess. I don't know much about it, just read a little about it.

Also read about people who use a syringe to pump in a little grease, with good results as well.

.

My neighbor up north owns a shop in illinois and he has been doing theis since about 03 on all the doo's he services and never had a problem with any.

EXACTLY!

THIS IS WHY SOLD MY 11 ETEC! FELT LIKE IT WAS A TICKING TIME BOMB!

My Z1 turbo might be heavier but its got a Yamaha type solid motor...

*****UPDATE*****

Dealer got into the motor last night.... water in gas. one side toast, typical water damage, moisture flashed on top of piston slowly eating away. (we gassed up 15 miles before it blew) they say they BRP will not give drop in, they are peicing it together.... he is PISSED to say the least... as his words, "i had a great bag of chips, now all i'm left with is the bag"... but at least he has warranty for the next year and half... but I sure will be carrying my tow rope... funny... he says the new apex XTX with power steering is whats next... he misses his 40th i bought off him 2 years ago, that towed him out!!

I think with as lean as all the new 2 strokes are running, bad fuel is going to take out a lot more motors.

Bad fuel has been taking out good motors for a long time. Running on the lean side may magnify it some but fuel grade is key, especially on the two stroke side.

They're a good design but the weak link is the crank & crank bearings. All us Yammi lovers should be thankful for that weak link because when or if they fix that we're all screwed. :o|

how do you figure it's a good design if they keep puking cranks...and have for 10 years....a good design would be reliable and not puke cranks.

I would rather send $75 on front bushings and $30 on hyfax than $2800 on a new eng. The sea doos been blowing cranks too ever cents they came out they do say in the man. that you have to grease the crank every 1800 to 2000 miles dont know if anybody has pulled a eng. out of a new rev or xp but its not fun . I had 6 ski doos in my shop from 2000 and up all with crank problems .... just my .05 cents

There are engine builders out there that will make a greased skidoo crack into a oiled crack. Just seems like a lot of messing around to ride, even if it makes it more reliable.
