2012 Cats, what do you think?

The only sled from their line-up that I could be interested in is the F1100 Sp. Compared to my sled 125hp to 120hp.
Weight 527lbs for the cat (pre-proto) / 530lbs for mine after mods.
5500 miles of trouble free use on my sled (same hyfax, same 2 belts, 16-20mpg regardless of throttle) / the cat, unknown quantity, except for motor.
Handling would probably go to the cat but with shapers on the stock skies and a little more set-up, I'm sure I could give it a run.
Nice sleds, I wish AC well but they don't have the one thing I count on as a necessity... a yamaha motor.

standard features not found on our SE's:at least 20 extra hp (15 if you believe the 162 hp ad hype), 6" dual carbides, 50-60 lbs less heft, a heated seat, push-button reverse, adjustable handlebars, adjustable ski stance,

I believe adjustable risers are only available on 800's with the telescoping riser and only the M's and one model of XF. IRP isnt available on the new chassis equipped with either 4 stroke option.

Problem for yamaha is for the high HP junkies like myself a Cat turbo will be thousands cheaper then a NA yamaha in a kick azz chassis so they may still lose business unless they come out boosted option that is standard and not on top of a already high price.

The 1100T with $1100 can be 250-260hp on pump fuel. Insane!

This very thing is what has me on the fence. Is the grass greener? Less expensive for sure!

Cat rates the hp of the 1100 at 123. The 2012s supposedly different throttle bodies and dual exhausts so maybe a bit of a hp gain? Also lighter chassis and back to chaincase it could have a little longer legs than previous years.

Thanks for posting that picture. It's the best pic I've seen of the front. You don't happen to have one like that of the turbo do you?

It sure LOOKS a lot more delicate than the construction of my Apex. As much as I want a new sled next season I'm gonna wait for now. I'll see if the Apex has a new chassis next year and also how these new cats hold up and how the fit/finish is compared to prior cats.

I didn't say the new chassis had IRP. Their website and 2012 brochure list adj. handlebars (whatever that entails) for the new chassis.

just got back fron the old forge sled weekend...all major brands showing off there new models and ski doo and yami giving free test drives...first the testdrive of the new skidoo 1200 4 stroke. It was simply amazing..strong power and handles twice as good as my apex...may have a little less power but the handling was just stupid...after the first few turns i tried to get the skis to lift...forget it! no lift...this thing stayed planted! i loved it..the 800 etec was next...same fantastic handling with insane power! my hats off to skidoo! Ok on to the new cats!!! These babys are beautiful to look at..period,just nice...the m8 with telescoping stem was the most comfy out of every sled there! just fit me perfect...my buddies all agreed. but the downs....flimsy front bumpers...like tin foil . the steering stem bushings on 6 out of 10 sleds have more play than a 20,000 mile apex and rear tunels are thin as flashing...like a guy pushed down on the flat tin part of the 800 141 inch and it caved in...no bull...ill post pics soon and a vid. real light means less material used. The polaris real nice feel...steering very tight on the floor..tightest of the bunch...wish i could or rode one though! so overall i love the XP chassis and how they feel...just wish my yami would turn as easy as them!

I was at old forge yesterday for the show also. I was all hot to see the new cats!! I loved the looks of the sled and have been thinking about buying a new turbo cat utill I sat on it. The fit and finsh is nowhere new a yamaha and when I sat on it my knees where into the tank and it spread my legs to wide for me to be confortable. Next I checked out the ski doos and could not believe how cheap looking the little things are like the highbeam switch, thottle lever and brake lever, ect ect are. I loved the power steering on the yamahas and I even liked the polaris better that the ski doos. Just my opinion guys.

Those Cats at the show are probably just Prototypes. I imagine the actual productions sleds will be better. I've never had a problem with cats fit/finish.

But then again I'm not very picky when it comes to that kind of stuff.

My bro and I had a similar experience on seeing the 500 sno pro in a showroom. In mags, on the internet or on tv, it looks incredible. One of the best looking sleds in recent years. However, up close and in person, it was ugly. Not just the fit and finish but somehow the proportions of the sled seemed way off. If it wasn't for the color, I would have said it was a completely different sled.

I never thought So many ppl would be saying so much good, and thinking about a cat... Especially on this forum...
