my wife and i and some friends want out on a ride today and she got to put about 50 mi's on here new sled it now has about 115 mi's on it anyways she hates it i thought for sure she would love it but she does not. :o| so tomorrow we will be going to check out a new ski doo ace 600 she tried one out and loves it. i was hoping i could keep her on a yami but not going to happen. :sled1:

my wife just came off a a/cat f8 and loves the vector, when we first got it the track was so tight it would almost lock the track on de-cell. what part doesnt she like?

What part doesn't she like? I think it is the best riding trail sled Yamaha has with the power steering making the sled feel light.

i thought the same thing but she said it feels like it is going to flip over going around a corner and the throttle is to stiff. so now i have a vector and a apex i guess ill have to sell one. we just picked up a ski doo 600 etec gsx and so far she loves it i hope it holds up.

Have you loosened the front springs all the way until you can sping them by hand with the sled raised in the air? (no weight)

Getting the A-arms to lay as level as possible will be a huge help.
Also, what is your rear spring tension at? Not sure the weight of your wife, but try lowering that spring all the way down, plus pull up the limiter strap a hole or two.

i have tried everything including a 13 mm sway bar form pioneer wich was awsome for my apex. im not sure if you have been on a new one with ps but the guys on here are saying that it does not work (springs) like the older ones but i tried it anyways all well some one will get a good buy on a nice new vector with only 120 mi's and a full warranty. thanks

Well your wife's opinion is completely different than mine.

Mine came off a '07 Cat F6 LXR. It was a great sled for her, light steering, low C of G, and warm.

She tried the '09 Adren Etec we had here and never liked it. Too tippy, heavy steering, cold, and too far forward riding position (felt she was going over the bars when braking).

I didn't want her on a 2-stroke anyways since I'm on a 1200. I didn't want the hassle of carrying oil even though the Etec sips it.

I have her on a '12 Vector now and she loves it. She says it feels much like the Cat. She loves the EPS for it's light feel and stability. I'm happy to not have to worry about oil, blown motors or crap resale.

She admits the throttle is a bit heavier but after a couple of rides she got used to that.We rode 200 miles Saturday and no complaints about fatigue.

If you found your wife something that she likes, that's great. Too bad she didn't like the Vector.

gmcman: What are you asking for the 2012 vector? I'm interested.

Let me know your thoughts? I could pick up in Denmark,Me. Cash deal!

Combat ;)!

Hi,
Wondering what you mean by being able to "spring them by hand"? I know getting the sled low should make it less tippy but by reducing the spring pressure on the ski shocks won't that make it roll to the outside ski when doing a turn and make it feel tippy and harder to turn. I'm asking because I'm trying to find a happy medium with my TF set-up.

Sorry BPY, you read it as "spring" and I was trying to spell 'spin" lol

What I am trying to say is, raise the front of your sled off the ground and loosen the adjusters until you can spin the springs by hand easily.
Then just retighten them enough that it takes a bit of effort to spin them then tighten up the top collar so they can not loosen.

Having your a-arms as flat/horizontal as possible helps with the tippiness and helps with the cornering and does not make it harder to turn.

Mine is set up this way, plus I pulled up the strap one hole, have my transfer rod set to almost minimum and it works well for me.

Hope this helps?

I also have that set-up also. Pulling the strap up is a big deal on these sleds. I have the clicker ( I know you dont have that) Set soft enough that it bottoms out (some)

Okay thanks it sounds like I don't have mine quite loose enough yet - I'll give her another try.
I've never adjusted the transfer rod but I hear it is the last thing that should be adjusted. Can you explain a bit how the transfer rod adj is beneficial? Maybe mine should be adjusted some because it seems really light on the front when I get up to 100km/h and I have my limiter strap on its shortest setting (pulled up or down?? depends on who's explaining - I call it down because I'm pulling down the short end to tighten/shorten it).
BTW - stun question time: Does shortening the limiter strap reduce the suspension travel or just limit how much the sled will lift in the front when accelerating?
thanks, sorry about all the questions - I should have this figured out by now. ;):D
