would like to see that phazer engine in a wide track. Yamaha needs to put more focus on their wide tracks, right now they have nothing to compete with. Also would like to see the Bravo updated or another entry level machine intorduced.

Because Yamaha is reacting to DOO's 4 stroke 60hp ACE sled in a XP chassis.
I can see doing this, but they will need to come up with a much lighter chasis to be able to compete with the Doo. A pile of people are more concerned with weight over reliability. If Yamaha put the PZ engine in a new light weight chasis it would be a hit for sure. The MXZ600ACE comes in under 450 pounds. I do not see a PZ powered Vector competing wth it really.

It said that most of the Phazer Models will be history, and, it's just a guess on their part.

From what i been reading on doo forums the new ACE600 has not meet the expectations of its buyers(poor fuel ecomony, unpowered, nose heavy).A phazer motor in a vector chassis at the current price of the phazer would not be a surprise.

2012: power steering in the vector based models, BNG maybe PS in the nytro models. Phazer is not going anywhere
2013: New chassis that will change the game. Get used to the 4 stroke, i dont think it is going anywhere

I thought I was going to get a phaser until I rode one and quickly realized she'd be thrown off it before we got out of the parking lot. That's why there is a ten year old SXR in the trailer. My dealer says he is going to carry a new brand of sled that is about a 3/4 size sled with a 300 cc 4 stroke with electric start and reverse and top speed around 40. Supposed to be around 4200 new. I can't remember the brand and I'm sure someone will come up with it but I'm going to take a serious look at it soon if yamaha doesn't fill the gap.
The company is called Premier and the sled is called the Enforcer. 150 and 300cc models. Perfect for kids. Even looks like a baby Apex, which, if I remember right, is what the owner of the company owned and used for styling inspiration. Looks promising although the website indicates some teething problems and they have not started manufacturing yet.
found a video for them:

I wish Yamaha would make something like this. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
I read somewhere Yamaha was working on a mid sized sled...

I've been looking at every bit of info on the Ace, and all i saw was the fuel economy wasn't what they claimed, but still over 20. Every post i saw they were saying the power and torque was great, considering. I don't know. They probably wouldn't admit some things anyway?low slung said:From what i been reading on doo forums the new ACE600 has not meet the expectations of its buyers(poor fuel ecomony, unpowered, nose heavy).A phazer motor in a vector chassis at the current price of the phazer would not be a surprise.

I just really can't see Yamaha getting rid of their cheapest 4 stroke on the market.

I met up with a guy on the trail the other day with a sporty A.C.E. model and he really wanted to compare it to my Phazer. I took it for a spin and One thing I noticed was noise, there was NONE, it was quite a bit quieter than my phazer was with stock exhaust. As far as fuel economy he claimed he was pulling 24mpg @ 45mph trail speed with what looked like a 121" 1" lug, I get 21mpg at the same average speed with a 144" 1.5" lug track. As for power, it has enough for trail cruising, that is about it, I think my stock fan cooled Phazer II would give it a good run all the way to 70mph and then walk away from it. On a railroad grade he could run along side me at 78mph on my speedo which is about 72 on GPS, that was pinned to the bars so my Phazer had a good 8-9mph more topend. He made 2 comments on my Phazer, one its pretty tipsy, and the other saying the dealer lied when he said this ACE was comparable to a Phazer powerwise On an acceleration test its no contest either, If I held the throttle to just over 10,000 rpm (3/4 throttle) he could run along side me all the way to 70mph on the speedo.
One thing Yamaha, if you build a Genesis 80FI powered crusier, put a 10+ gallon tank on it!!!

Some interesting (and very wacky) guesses at what's coming down the pipe.
New Yammies will be released on February 28th!

yeah right, like this will ever happen
Bring back the Apex MTX! Standard 162 X 16 X 2.5 with a 174 track option. Give it the Pro Mountain Air rear, a low boost S/C or turbo option like the Nytro, introduce some lightweight goodies through Yamaha and call it good. If they are going to call the Phazer an MTX put a decent damn track under it, AT LEAST a 144 X 15 X 2 1/2 flatten the approach angle and ad about 25 hp.
