2012

Based on reading the yamablog, I'd bet 2012 will bring one or more of the following: nytro weight loss, phazer motor in vector chassis/phazer gone, power steering on vectors/touring models and maybe a new model FX chassis with a version of the super tenere motor.

What better way to give Skidoo a smack I the face then to build a 100hp 600cc twin and sell it for only 400$ more than the 60hp 600cc ACE? I mean it would be 600 vs 600 apples to apple comparison in the eyes of the consumer.

For 2014 we get an updated Apex with a short stroke 18,000 rpm inline 6, meaning perfect primary and secondary balance with crank journals wide enough for a second set of connecting rods and a built in mounting pad for a second cylinder bank and gear driven twin screw.

;)! ;)! ;)! ;)!

And a electronic fuel injected twin 900-1000cc pushing 130-140 bhp @9-10,000 rpm in the Nytro chassis with a weight loss ;)!

and why would u want to put the phazer engine in a vector chassie?!?!?!

Good question! I don't. I want a sub 500-550 lb wet, 100-110 hp, fx chassis, XC 4 stroke.
I think yamaha would put the phazer motor in a vector chassis to appeal to those riders considering an ACE 600 who don't like the phazer's dirt bike ergos and feel.

I hear Arctic Cat is going with a Direct injection two stroke .... and a less than 400 pound mountain sled... I'm starting to wonder how long Yamaha can keep adding things on its sleds like EPS to HIDE the fact that they are getting heavier all the time.. if they where 200 lbs lighter, there wouldn't be a need for EPS and a better suspension and skis wouldn't dart so much... don't get me wrong, i wont trade in my Yamaha reliability, BUT if they can build relaible two stroke engines for motorcross, why can't they at least try something light and powerfull for a change??????

just my two cents...

:drink:

never mind 2012..just make it easier to take off the side panel when out after riding and the bloody stupid design has it frozen tight. The bottom fastener frozen like super glue...my three cat buddies were amazed at how stupid the whole design is...these are the little things a great company like yamaha should be fixing. Throw in the fact that your tail light ices up after just a few km's..annoying not to mention dangerous for people following...Come on we know for fit finish and reliability no one can touch Yamaha...but lets get these simple things right.
I also forgot to mention the 30lbs ice I carry all day!
Do Yamaha decision makers ever read this site...

With direct injection why cant a wet sump 2 stroke be made?Would be best of both worlds if so.

Sure hope they dont get rid of Phazer unless a better one is made.Where in the Blog did you see reference to this?

I think they'd sell a bunch of 2-strokes in a Nytro type sled. A lot of "ditch banger/bump guys out there looking for a sled to do that, and Yamaha doesn't have much to offer. Although i hear a well set-up Nytro can jam pretty good in the bumps?
About the Phazer motor in the Vector thought, i'd be interested. There is no traditional, or entry type sled that they offer. The price would have to be way less though! Same price as a Phazer? Why not?
