My primary clutch sliders on the o-ring side are shifting and wearing from corner to corner and i believe they are binding. Can older style sliders be used with no o-ring behind them as they fit the roll pin tighter? Has anybody tried this successfully ?

Yamaha used these with the 0-ring to quiet down the clutch rattle. I know exactly what you're talking about with them turning, but I don't think they cause binding. You can go back to the other style.
Yamaha offers spider shims 0.003 thick to put behind these, which does help to keep rattle at a minimum.

Thanks , i have a new set of the older style in on the one side and am going to try it today . I have some of the shims also , i tried to put them in and it was way to tight. I could not get the spider to slide in .

The Shims i have are ,8BW-17654-20 and are .007 thick. Do you have a part number for the ones that are .003 thick?

I was wrong. They are .2mm
That is the part number.

Thanks. I just took the sled for a spin and don't see any adverse effects of using the old style slider. As far as i can tell they are not shifting sideways . Everything seems good ,65 miles breaking in a new belt also. Thanks again.

The first year vectors came the way you're setting it up.
