It just buzzed. Did not cycle. I suspect you have a short somewhere. I do find it odd that after you disconnected the battery the sled kept beeping? How long did it do that for?
Battery disconnected for 5 minutes and still coded and beeped when battery replaced. Battery ruled out swapped in a new one. Out of options I'm willing to screw around with taking to dealer.

This is why we need solid state relays!
Do you know any SSR relays we can use in the Viper?

Had the same problem last year after I started my sled at -30 Celsius and then shut it off after 5 minutes while my buddies cat didn't start, When we got the 2 stroke cat running, mine cranked, reverse on. beeping, codes galore, battery pack was installed but no firing. Turns out main relay was not working. Made it to my dealer after fooling around for 50 minutes to get her running and they checked it out and told me the problem was " Arctic cats parts" WTF They said can't do anything now because it was running. Love my machine when I'm riding but I sure get nervous when it is cold up here in Quebec. Had laugh today when a cat guy with his new XF 7000 had the same problem, 5 minutes with a heat gun got her running. Relays, relays, relays.
My 2014 is a certified POS, 2 blown starters, multiple starting problems, and now this. Out of 11 weekends I've had to trailer to dealership 3 times. I have bought Yamaha for reliability and this sled has zero. The day before it started at
-15 degrees and ran all day without issue, had me convinced that they finally solved my starting problems with the new ECU update. Now this crap. Heading to dealer to let them figure it out.

When reading this thread I'm becoming more sure that most of the Viper problem is how Cat made the electrical system and wirings...

Suggestions and help needed. My 2014 ran and started great yesterday in temps 0 to -15 degrees. This am at -4 it would turn over but not fire. The sled was inside and on a better tender. My battery eventually drained. Charged battery all day. Fully charged I go to start the sled and the alarm is now beeping and sending multiple codes like P0919, P0562, P1692, P1689, P0485, P0508. I undid battery from sled and the alarm still sounds.
Just back from dealer the starter relay failed and created all of the related issues. A $20 part but you need to clear the OBD codes and that would require having a OBD code reader and yamaha adapter to plug into sled. Rock River Motorsports dealership was awesome! Fixed it while I waited.

Can you clarify? I have never seen a code that needed to be cleared with a reader or tool of any kind. Normally when issue is fixed codes clear. Also was it the starter relay or the starter solenoid. $20 for a relay is kinda high and if Solenoid kinda low. Either way Kudos to Rock River forgetting you going again.Just back from dealer the starter relay failed and created all of the related issues. They called it starter relay and it sits on battery. I watched as they diagnosed and ran through a series of tests and they would clear codes and it would code again until they replaced the part. Here is a picture of the replaced part. Note the corrosion coming out.

If the dealer did not already do it you need to slather that sucker up with dielectric grease to keep it from corroding.

Great tip! I will check.

Thank You! Yes that is what "I" call the starter solenoid. Yamaha does call it the relay. I have been thinking about putting a sealed one on from a Honda,Cannondale or YFZ. Oh and when your first starter failed that also should have been replaced. Good policy to replace starter and that Solenoid at same time because they have a history of issue even in the Yamaha Nytros and other Japan sleds. Normally they are reason behind any starter that smells burnt.

I have a 2016 SR Viper and experienced a similar issue. Sled was parked overnight on a battery tender and in the morning it would turn over but would not start. The reverse "R" was on the display and the reverse alarm sound despite the sled not being in reverse when parked overnight. Unplugging the battery did not fix. It appears to have been a relay issue. We opened the hood (no easy task out at a cottage with the 2 bolts that are under the nose) and opened the main relay box. One looked like it may have been slightly raised from its position. Anyway took them all out and re-seated them and the sled started up up and worked perfectly. I got lucky this time as I was with a guy who described this same problem and the fix (the relays). Otherwise I would have been pooched and likely been taking the sled into the dealer as there are many electrical things that could cause this. Anyway - hope this helps someone else out if they are stuck.Suggestions and help needed. My 2014 ran and started great yesterday in temps 0 to -15 degrees.
