Question is - Is Cat going to put their turbo system on the Nytro motor?? That would be dumb on Yammi's part to allow, but one can hope....

I doubt it. I predict a new 2 stroke and the NA Yamaha 4 stroke from Cat. I bet the 1100 and 1100 Turbo will be discontinued. That 1100 Turbo is eating them alive on warranty claims.

Oh, please show me some facts on this!!! The 1100 motor is strong, and I personally have never heard of an engine failure in stock form, maybe with the boost turned up. Now the chassis is another story, I will be sad to see the 1100 go, but hope Yamacat can come up with an even better replacement.

Ditto StopDrop...

not many warranty claims...I own one, and there are very few issues with the M1100Turbos...

not sure.....

If u are a true snowmobiler how u can not be happy to see this!!!! This is kick #*$&@ news!!!! Can not wait to see what the next few years bring with some of the best in the biz working together!!!

It should be clear that Cat will be selling the IDENTICAL sled in a different color. OK, maybe different shock packages or whatever, and some Cat stickers. So here's the question: What will the Cat price be versus the Yamaha price? Is there a marketing agreement deal on that? And what if Cat adds a turbo or S/C? Seems like a big risk that more people would leave Yamaha for Cat.

THey need to be careful about price fixing here. It is illeagal for 2 competitors to get together and formally try to contrl pricing. I would doubt that there is any language in that deal stating anything about what price they can offer. There are anti-trust issues there. Ultimately, Cat and Yam are still considered competitors...and they cannot engage in price fixing. That being said, there are many ways to skirt this. I'm sure Yam priced their engines, and Cat priced their chassis at points that balanced things out in the end.

Couple questions:
- Does the RTX have lower gearing?
- The Ripsaw 2 is single ply?...can you put pics on a single ply track?
- If you can, is there room for picks?
- I'd get a blue one, but not if it has lower gearing....

Cat 1100NA is 123-128hp.......1049 is 135hp...........145hp in that chassis would have stoeln a TON of business from competitors. Those that ride the Doo 1200 with 137hp still say it "600 type" power especially up top.

Same HP as the 1200 does nothing to get me back to Yamaha. 150 HP would have.. Do we know the HP numbers yet? Same engine but different exhaust. Will that gain or lose HP numbers?

What really ticks me off is the pricing...Yamaha wants to build sleds in North America to keep them competitive in the market, yet in Canada the price for a base American made Viper is $14000, while a base Japanese made Nytro is $11500. WTF? :dunno:

I would think the 3 cylinder weighs more than the 2 cylinder AC motor. So maybe 535 or so. What does the short track nytro weigh??
