2014

I'm thinking left over. My problem is Yamaha is not building them. I'm all for jobs here but AC stuff has been built cheap with crap tolerances etc. I doubt they are going to last. For ex. my sled is 8 years old with over 13,000 miles run very hard and still going fine. I'll keep an open mind but my gut says stay true...

Question is - Is Cat going to put their turbo system on the Nytro motor?? That would be dumb on Yammi's part to allow, but one can hope....

I doubt it. I predict a new 2 stroke and the NA Yamaha 4 stroke from Cat. I bet the 1100 and 1100 Turbo will be discontinued. That 1100 Turbo is eating them alive on warranty claims.

Oh, please show me some facts on this!!! The 1100 motor is strong, and I personally have never heard of an engine failure in stock form, maybe with the boost turned up. Now the chassis is another story, I will be sad to see the 1100 go, but hope Yamacat can come up with an even better replacement.

The 1100 NA feels gutless next to the 1049 NA. The 1100 Turbo doesn't have problems with the engine... It has problems with the clutching and drive system. Do some searching. It is a belt eater and people don't know how to fix them. Some have even filed Lemon Law on it.

They are bad without a Turbo. My 05 Vector used to murder my buddies z1 jag in a drag race!

A few thoughts:

1) I was wrong about the pics being fake

2) This looks like a kick-#*$&@ sled. Yamaha has given many of you what you asked for - a modern, light weight chassis, with a Yamaha engine.

3) Before getting all pissed remember that many sleds have had parts from combined manufacturers - susuki engines in cats, fuji and webber engines in Polaris to name a few. Nobody ever said thats not a real cat or a real Polaris.

4) For gods sakes - Yamaha is not leaving the snowmobile business. This is an innovative and experimental move that may or may not last. Snowmobiles are a small but important piece of Yamaha to maintain a four-season business model. This is in no way an indication of leaving the market - if anything it shows a willingness to live outside the box a little bit.

5) I wont be getting one because I'm still waiting for an Apex replacement. If this sled shows up next year with 150+ horsepower then I'm all-in.

It will probably be a great handling sled and comfortable, this was everything we wanted in the nytro and should have been accomplished with the nytro long ago. But yamaha is really lacking in ingenuity. To me this is a leap forward for yamaha in comfort and handling but only coming to par with other manufactures. no turbo, cheap gauges (liked the old ones better), no new big snowmobile altering tech, and there sled is going to be called the copy CAT. Sorry yamaha I have been a fan and defended you for quite some time even with the ugliness of the phazer (which I bought in 07), its been a long hall for me waiting for this new sled but now its time for me walk away with my head shaking in sorrow.
