Anyone have a pay account at snowest? Going crazy as I read through the 2014 thread in the yam section last post said electric viking was all there is to be released and next posts won't show as I am not a paying member. :o| :o| :o| :o| :o| :o| :o| :o| :o| :o| :o| :o| :o| :o| :o| :o| :o|

Say it isn't so!!!! :die

Just go to the top of the thread, select "print view" and you can read the posts past #75. You won't see pictures but its better than nothing

Wow nice little feature there never knew about that!! Big thanks Akrider!!

Yep said changes to the shorty and maybe xtx first, mountain guys are not happy.

Well if the mountain sleds are delayed a season that doesn't mean something bad is coming. Maybe they are spiliting the line-up and going to build a purpose-built mountain sled instead of building it off of a shorty/XTX platform. Honestly instead of having the platforms split with Phazer/Nytro/Apex it would make a lot more sense to have a Trail/Crossover platform and a Mountain platform covering those segments. While weight is the main factor for the mountains, trail and crossover should be focused on comfort or rough trail ability depending on suspension tuning.

Not that it has anything to do with this thread exactly... But I spotted a flashy suzuki tractor trailer coming out of the rockies last week. I didnt get a pic, but it had ontario plates on it. Not sure what they would be up to out here.

Maybe super cross team. The west coast portion is rolling along right now I think. As far as the Ontario plates, I think that's a state of mind, like " I'd rather be snowmobiling". I used to live in Texas and I saw them all the time. No offense to Canadians, I like Canada, ontarians travel a ton it seems. I bet This release is a mid hp buggy with detachable bags aimed at " the traditional high mile 4 stroke rider"

Thanks, Journeyman. Maybe close to Lac du Flambeau?

Yes it is. When I used to pit/wrench for a drag racer 20 years ago we stayed at the Point Resort on Lake Minoqua every year and the races were held on that lake. One of our guys in the crew was a gambler and headed up to Lac du Flambeau when we were there. Minoqua is a really nice town.

As for Yamaha. Ever since they moved up their from Coon Rapids,MN it has given them a nice range of areas for them to test new iron in a better snowbelt. If they don't have snow on their property many times they sneak north into the UP of Michigan. In fact they have stayed at the same cabin in the north woods of the UP as we have. A couple times I was up there on the same land as they were while testing new iron. I saw the RX-1 a year before it existed and also the current looking Nytro a year in advance. When they stay at the cabin just before us, they leave lots of pizza and beer in the ice box. The owner says "help yourself"............ ;)!

They are very secretive though when up there and seeing something is usually by accident.

Hope your right on what they will release. That would suit me perfect.

Well I did receive some news today that further enhances this subject. My source says you can take it to the bank. Apparently Arctic Cat is building a snocross purpose sled in Thief River Falls for Yamaha (Blue of course) with a Yamaha 4 stroke motor and drive system.

My dealer told me today it's definitely a 2-STROKE! He swore on it. He's been right every year I ask. That's all he knew...

That would shock me if it was a 2 stroke. Yamaha seems to be distancing themselves from 2 strokes.

The person I heard it from is NOT a dealer but has strong ties here in MN with alot of people in the industry. He is NOT the original source neither that I heard it from telling me of the future Arctic Cat/Yamaha relationship . So as Amsnow said ,this story line keeps gaining more traction.

Personally I will be pretty sad if all we start getting is Arctic Cat re-badges painted blue as Yamahas. If that happens that tells me that Yamaha's snowmobile business is nearing it's end. The funny thing about it is no one in the industry has worse fit or finish then Arctic Cat. Start getting ready for uneven tolerances, loose pieces right from the assembly line and sleds that just sort of start "falling apart" like a 1985 Chevy Cavalier after a few seasons.

If all they offer are the re-badges I will probably switch to a different brand when it is time to replace the Nytro in a few years. I've already had plenty of experience with Arctic Cats. They have all sorts of issues with assembly and recalls. I've seen the primary clutch fly right through the belly pans on them. Currently they might ride better and handle better, but quality wise they are still junk.

If there is a 2 stroke in the works, it seems to me it would be in a Cat suit. Wasn't it Yamaha's business plan to rid themselves of the two stroke altogether?

I think it will be weird if Yamaha introduced a two stroke sled after being brainwashed all these years with 4stroke only mentality.

That's what I told my dealer. He said he only knew they were testing a "direct injection" lightweight sled & it's all done. I believe it was Yamaha working with AC on their sled, but we'll see.

This may or may not be anything but found out Yamaha is not selling 55 gallon drums of 2S Oil anymore , Gallons and Quarts only , if they are coming with a new 2 smoke why would they stop selling 2S in bulk.

I love my 4 stroke. And compared to early 2000 sleds they kick #*$&@ in mpg. This weekend buddy worried about running out of fuel. Hit station he had 37 bucks I added 12.50 to top up. Both started full. The new 2 stroke even tec is about as good as my venture. So new technology 2 smoke could interest yamaha if cheaper to produce.
