2014

You guys are scaring me saying that Yamaha may team up with cat for chassis. That will never happen. The cat chassis are so flimsy, Yamaha would have to beef up everything to bring it up to their standards. Has everyone forgot the Firecat disaster with the spit that kept happening between the 2 clutches or the crossfires with the tunnels bending after regular use?
When you go to the 2014 manufacturer shows, try lifting one of the cats by the front bumper, it flexes and will probably bend if you had 2 guys trying to lift it in the deep snow.
This is a bad bad idea.[/quote

Well you better be ready because it's coming

60 pages of yamaha AC teaming up BS...never happen...they don't need anything from cat......
They sell Kyb shocks to ski doo so they are teaming up now to

Ask JTS how many belts he went through on his Turbo cat :yam:

I was out riding with 3 2013 cats (M 800's) this saturday. 2 blown belts within 10 minuits of climbing in the woods.. Although one could argue they did better than me since my Phazer was to heavy to make it up the hill :)

Wow...60 pages now on this. Can you imagine if Yamaha releases another year of BNG's for their sleds? Don't put it past them. It could happen. I think the TY4stroke server would melt down from all the rage...

Haha, the chassis is ready to rock. Depends how they do on clearing inventory is what I heard. Chassis was ready last year too but there was too much holdover from the lack of snow.

I laughed out loud when I read this. Hopefully after the Nytro backcountry track debacle they learned their lesson. :o|

Well to be fair the Nytro XTX is a good sled especially with the backcountry track, but I agree that people are ready to see something new from Yamaha. Even a facelifted Nytro with a new look, some weight reduction, a bigger fuel tank and the race style front suspension would be popular and a welcome addition.

Personally I'd rather see a heavily revised and improved FX generation II over a re-baged Arctic Crap, but that's just me.

I bought a new 2012 Nytro XTX this fall and I just turned 500 miles on it so I won't be buying anyhow. I ran my Rage for 7 seasons so it will be a few years.

I think to many people are panicking about cat reliability. The question is why, if they are only talking the chassis? They are not talking motor, drives, clutches etc. I know that there is no reason to worry about cat in the motor area cause we are hearing of two different motors to pick from. I like this idea cat or no cat chassis. Yamaha needs to stream line their main sleds similar to the other three brands that do this. By just changing engines, and suspension packages all in the same frame. If they did this and kept a work Horse like a viking and entry 120 or bravo it would make a lot of sense. Won't make those happy that get to pick from a cruiser like a Apex, or a stand up aggressive nytro, but it is needed to stream line engineering and costs. If they have something that feels close to as refined as a cat or new doo suspension and uses our engine platform with a boost option, there should be no complaining. Cause the majority kept saying if they don't give me less weight, better handling, and more power I'm looking at another sled, or riding mine forever. Which neither choice increases yamaha's sales. So

They aren,t only talking chassis. A sled is only as good as it,s weakest drivetrain link. Blowing belts will not get you home. How many belts should one have to carry to go a thousand mile trip ? Maybe they start coming with a caboose, full of belts, as standard equipment. I,ll stick with my Yamaha Apex RTX. It,s not the lighest, and it,s not the fastest, but I have the confidence that it will get me home, from every trip I take. And I do have a choice, cause I own a older very reliable Cat as well, but it just sits in the garage, looking pretty. The newer ones, looks like they should be just sitting in the garage as well.

Im pretty sure Jason has went thru a belt or two but has it dialed in now and that belts are a non issue. Most go fast guys have cat's issues under control, just like Yamaha guys get there sleds handling better....

True they all have some issues, but Arctic Cat clutches have been crap since the days if the notorious Hex clutch which couldn't hold a bushing and needed a rebuild every 500 miles. In the late 80's they got smart and starting putting Comet clutches on them, but decided they could do it cheaper with an in-house solution around 2000. The current clutch is still a poor design and requires lots of TLC in high power applications.

I know I'll sure miss the excellent and durable Yamaha drive system if we start getting re-badged Cats.

If there is one thing I hate it is people throwing their blown belts on the ice and leaving it there on the lake. Like WTF! Take it home and throw it in the trash.
