I think it will be the final year in that chassis and may be the final year for the 4 cylinder! but I'm thinking something big is on the horizon!

I agee, I mean the 2015 Apex is only offered in 1 color option, so the phasing out is already underway! But DO NOT get rid on 4-cyl. Any apex owner would be happy with a fresh chassis, slightly lighter, with kick-#*$&@ new style! To me, weight is the last of my concern! Give us a future APEX, something fresh!

I hear for the 2016 Apex they are gonna add a second heated shield jack. One on each side of the bars. Fingers crossed.

Good one trailhed.
I think next year, the Phazer will move into the AC chassis. Yamaha has already streamlined the Phazer lineup, much like they did with the Nytro before nixxing it.
The Apex will likely stay the same for 2016 and then move into the AC chassis.
For 2017, Yamaha and Arctic Cat will release a new co-developed chassis, and finish their descent to becoming one and the same...identical sleds with different colours...essentially reducing the market to just 3 OEMs.

Not what I have heard Grimm. Yamaha just added on to their test facility in Minoqua,WI. and hired a boat load of new workers. They now have an indoor testing area. They are supposedly coming out with some new made in Japan machines. It looks as though Yamaha could end up being AC's 4 stroke supplier for some time with Suzuki out of the picture but the people at Yamaha say they are not merging entirely. What some have not shed a light on is the Tsunami that happened in Japan. It did hurt some of their suppliers over there so this joint effort has filled a void for now.

Yamaha has already figured out a way to make their SHO four stroke outboard motor lighter than their 2 stroke by about 30lbs, hopefully they can pull off that same strategy with their snowmobile engine & slap it into a totally new chassis!!!! Reliability, lightness & powerful= the ultimate sled

really enjoy the 4 hole in my apex xtx, but I too can see the 4 hole going down the hole due to the fact that is so big and heavy. I can see 160 plus horses coming out of a new or updated 3 cylinder mill. I would love to see a lighter and more powerful 4 cyl but I don't think it will be in the cards.
Why on earth would they get rid of the best engine they make.....and the one everyone loves the most??

The three hole is bigger and only a few pds lighter. The 4 would have been a better motor for the Viper.

It looks like they are going to get rid of it with only one color choice, i think i will start looking for a leftover apex at a discount this spring.
