2016

Yamaha doesn't bring new models because people like you keep buying 10 year old technology.

Yamaha hasn't built a new sled since 2008 when the Nytro came out. The viper is just a Cat with blue panels. I road Yamaha for 15 years. I own a Yamaha jet boat. I've owned Yamaha quads. I currently ride a skidoo and I love it. If Yamaha came out with a replacement for the apex that was really sweet I'd jump back to Yamaha. I refuse to buy a cat with blue panals or a ten year old apex. The New skid doesn't make the apex new just like power steering and the exup didn't. Those are refinements not game changers.

Again I love Yamaha but I want a new Yamaha.

The 2011 or newer apexes are nothing like the 06-2010 apexes...ride what you like...but that 10 year old tech argument is dootalk fodder...nothing more...I love my xtx

Why didn,t they have the balls to tell everyone just how much HP and torque, increase they got ?
Probably, because it,s better to leave folks guessing. They needed to kick it up to 170 HP, or so, and brag about it.
Because 600lbs and 156hp doesn't appeal to a lot of people.

It appeals just fine to me...it's faster than those "light weight " pop can 800s (with throw away engines)....but again...ride what you like
I'm not saying it's good or bad but it's hard to use numbers like those in a marketing campaign. The last time Yamaha provided hp numbers for they Apex they were proven to be false.

inovations are great but if they would have dropped 5 lbs. and added 5 hp every year to peak peoples interests the apex would be top dog by now!
and yes Yamaha can do it and keep the reliability it doesn't have to be 409 lbs. like the rmk but 700 is insane.
so the poo is probably 500 ready to ride .and no that's not apples to apples just an observation.

Same thing every year around here...

I'm always amazed at how this time of year brings the non yamaha riders to the site to comment on how heavy the sleds are....here's a shocker boys...we already know!! I, for one like to see the Apex still alive...sure it's a niche market but it suits my riding style. I really enjoy the ride and ergo's of the viper but I can't go away from the 4cyl power and finess.

There are 4 brands to choose from...if you don't like what you see here than find something you do like but I honestly don't need to hear how Yamaha is failing you personally.

Fun fact...the Porsche 911 has been around for over 50 years...developed slowly from the beginning to where it is today. Sometimes when you build and engineer things for and over the long term the end result is something you don't just toss aside every 3 years.

LMAO. How true.spank them all day long. Even the new Poo 800 & the extra tunnel ice and weight. My tow line is wearing out towing these guys out of the Bush. Nuff said.

I see none of the dyno shops around get the stated 163 hp that the video of the 2016 show talked about,it was the first time I have heard a rep speak about 163 hp on the newer esupx produced sleds, other than woody's power up kit trip to dynotech, and that is the only time I have seen them numbers, but that was not box stock, the way we get it. On a shiners note,i am on a 15 xtx w/esupx and I can tell you from my butt dyno this sled feels like it has all that and more,as I am coming off a boosted turdbo cat!! My apex xtx just destroys both my boys 06 ape's and my buds attack also 06 not by a sled or two but by as many as 10 or more and the hook up is just unreal.

Well I'm now looking to buy a left over new Apex and take advantage of the savings in doing so. I figured I'll now just purchase an Apex again and enjoy the power steering and x-up exhaust which my 2007 didn't have and then hand this sled down to my son when and if Yamaha does something to excite me enough to buy yet another new one in the future.......the million dollar question is will that be 1, 2 or 5 years down the road.....lol......one thing is for sure I'm not giving up on Yamaha or their dependability and quality equipment so I'll continue to bleed blue......
This is why I am back on Yamaha,my buddy just yesterday said don't you miss all those stops w/your cat, checking belt heat w/gun,changing out belt after belt, installing elec. fan to keep belt temps down, only to finally blow that belt and fan too,i said joking I do kinda miss those moments not!! this xtx is so reliable in 1200 miles I have not had the side panel off on trail yet.

Well I guess I will start kicking these idiots out of the site... my favorite time of the year.

Yes I remember you were on ape's way back when they were real popular jtssrx, but have you ridden a well set up xtx ape w/ps and esupx,if not give on a try for several hundred miles, you will be amazed,i would not have let myself ride a long track of any kind after my fieasco w/the 06 attack I had, that was the sled I traded a guy in Ontario my long skid for his short skid, that was how bad I didliked the 136,but now after many ape's a few doo's a few poo's and a failed cat turdbo,I am on one,ya and not a 121 or 129 or 136 but 144,man I just cant believe how this tank goes lol, sweet!
