Did you switch the wires like I suggested?

Large tube from airbox, hard starting may indicate valves need adjusting, trying to wait out season. I know not to turn engine backwards, runs great once runningDo you mean the crossover tube from air box? Or, do you mean the oil drain hose? Or, do you mean coolant exit hose? In any case. Imo none of them would cause hard starting.
Was this engine EVER turned backward (clockwise as viewed from clutch side)?
If it has fuel (~ 43 psi fp) and air, and ignition (good spark plugs!) it shouldn't start hard.
What is compression?

No. You could take the crossover tube out of sled and it should not affect starting.Large tube from airbox, hard starting may indicate valves need adjusting, trying to wait out season. I know not to turn engine backwards, runs great once running
Are you original owner? Do you know for a definite fact that this engine was never rotated backwards?

Not original owner, no clue if engine was ever turned backwards. Are you thinking that the timing is off based on it being hard to start? I hoping the hard starting was due to starter issues. Will know more once new parts arriveNo. You could take the crossover tube out of sled and it should not affect starting.

It's the kicking back like shown in your video that caused the starter and gear to get damaged. No I haven’t yet, planning to do this week along with new starter and idler gear
Once you install the new parts be sure to switch the wires or they could get damaged again.

Thanks for your input, I’ll try to change the pick up coil wires tomorrow. The pick up coil is a separate plug with 2 wires correct?

Correct. The only other thing that could be wrong is a partially sheared keyway on the flywheel. Thanks for your input, I’ll try to change the pick up coil wires tomorrow. The pick up coil is a separate plug with 2 wires correct?

Your talking the fly wheel that surrounds the stator?Correct. The only other thing that could be wrong is a partially sheared keyway on the flywheel.
You have any tips on getting the wires to release in the pick up coil plug?

Yes. But if it wasn't off, it's unlikely it sheared.Your talking the fly wheel that surrounds the stator?

Use torch tip cleaner or an injection needle(like for your arm) to pull back on those plastic tabs and then pull.
An extra set off hands may help, or hold the block in a vice.

Got the wires changed, thanks so much for all your help, used a sewing needle and it worked great.Yes. But if it wasn't off, it's unlikely it sheared.
