2018 Sidewinder L-TX-LE...EBRS Engine Braking Control

Hi guys
Little late to the party here. But wanted to know If theres a lot of engine breaking in the Winder as compared to a ‘13 Nytro.
I love the Nytro but can’t seem to get past the engine breaking part of it.
I’ve added the 14.5 rollers and a YPY spring and that’s seemed to help alittle bringing clutch engagement down to 2900 rpm.
Have they tamed the Winder as compared to older models.
Would I see a difference in EBRS if I jumped
Back and forth from Nytro to Winder?

The'Winder has very little Engine Braking stock. I will add more with my clutch kit personally

Really ? I take it you like the engine breaking?
So I take it . It coast. More like a 2 stroke then?
I wonder what they did to get rid of most of the EBRS

I miss my Apex's engine braking
The SW has much less engine braking than even my 2015 Apex.
I could sell all my brake pads from previous Apex's as almost new, based on using the engine braking .
Not so on the SW .
With the extra sneaky speed on the trails , and less engine braking , I
wouldn't be surprised if I need to replace the brake pads before the belt !!!!

It's the same as the nytro, because it's the same engine, just debored to make it legal for side x side atvs which have a 1000cc limit.

I'm used to aggressive clutch kits that usually back shift quick since the 90's. The Apex was perfect for me being an aggressive trail rider. I hardly used the brakes. On my stock 'Winder i used the brakes A LOT more. I don't like it as aggressive as a few years ago, but i want more than stock.

As always "subject to change. " Not sure if I will ever spring order again. Definitely probably not 1st year model. Been there, done that.
I’ve bought my last Yamaha products. Over the years I’ve had numerous Yamaha ATVs and now the ridiculous experience I’ve had from both the nutty Yamaha dealer and Yamaha Canada, all for doing them the fat favor of taking not one, but two new Sidewinders off their hands..... Never again, it’ll be back to BRP, maybe as early as next fall.

That's too bad you can't get any satisfaction from your dealer. The dealer makes a huge difference when dealing with the manufacturer. The first dealer I had when I bought my first Doo was very good. The dealer I bought my last two Doo's from really turned me off with his service. When I had an issue with my sleds overheating they told me that if they couldn't find something wrong that I would have to pay for the diagnostics and time they spent checking the sled over. I told them to stick it up their arse and now I will not be buying another Doo from them. The best thing about Doo is there are more dealers out there to choose from although around me Doo dealers are closing also.

Thats a shame, not all dealers are the same, try another one and dont let one experiance ruin it for you. In the end if you resort to there level it will be your loss not theres.

Someone (SJ? jonlafon? can't remember) said a 38º helix gives the Winder good engine breaking. Was very surprised how little engine breaking my Winder had when I first rode it.

More torsion spring will add some wanted/needed engine braking. On tight trails I love more, as riding aggressively you can fly at a higher clip without needing brakes as often, saving brake pads bigtime too...Apex with my proline tweaked clutching was my fave setup for EB.
