2019s

Seriously ???? Yamaha Doesn't address issues??? and Yamaha doesn't repair broken sleds under warranty??? It's possible they "never heard of it " but I'm certain they fix it and they fix it at no cost to the owner. And your wrong about Yamaha not addressing issues becouse they have. For the 2018 Sidewinders they added oiling holes to the upper gear, they stuck a hard foil tape over the coolant hose (you know? The one that leaks ), they improved primary rollers that don't square off or inner bushings move over and jam against the spacer, they improved the secondary rollers so that they no longer flatten, they must have improved the primary spring becouse they no longer break, they changed the rubber o-ring that seals the chaincase cover (it's red for 2018 not black) sorry I can't explain what the different rubber compound is but it is different, there are a couple other things I can't remember right now. Oh by the way the roll over valve thingy just started happening a few weeks ago, I'm pretty sure they'll fix that also.
Also why should it be Yamahas problem when someone turns up the power output, it's not there doing, so they shouldn't be concerned.
How many stock not tuned Sidewinders are blowing belts ? on this forum I bielieve it's not many, and I'll say it again, stock out of the box stock, no clutching mods, stock, factory, stock. From what I can tell, maybe a handful. Yes it sucks for guys that are blowing belts, and are stock, but I believe it may be a handful. And I mean stock out of the box clutching and motor and 8jp. I can't say for other forums and face book but on here it's the same few.
And like said above Yamaha engineered this sled for around 200hp not 250-310hp and not with 400 2" long studs in the track, that alone will put stress on the driveline and other components wouldn't you think?

61.5mm without shims......I need to have it machined to go lower.
I’m telling you dan from my experience. 61.5 mm should be fine. I was blowing belts like crazy until I replaced the clutches and went with the dalton parts.
Over 2500 miles on one belt this season.
Are you seeing any marks between the two half’s of your secondary?

Stock 17 Winder and just replaced my belt couple weeks ago at 2200 miles....and only because I had brain skip and flat spotted it at 30 below one morning in Quebec trying to break free of the ice :)

I've had excellent luck with my belts. 2800 miles on original and I just changed it because I don't want to push it. The surprising thing is the original belt shows no wear at all compared to the new one. I think a lot of issues come from how guys ride and too many guys are making poor choices with clutch components. Last year I had cool clutches and belt all the time with stock clutching. This year I bought into all the hype and invested in a clutch kit and secondary spring and helix. I was rewarded with really hot clutches and belt along with sub par performance. I'm happy to report I'm back to stock clutching, cool clutches and belt along with great performance.

I am on my 5th belt on my stock clutched and not flashed Winder. I blew another one this last week while on vacation. Had the rollers replaced with Cat ones, they set the offset and checked everything, set the secondary to 6-2 even. I am afraid to use the power because it seems to blow belts. I am heavy at 295 but I dont dare do 80 plus in Canada on super flat fast trails. I check my clutches and they are so hot I cant hold my hand on them. I added a vent still bad. It was warm and there was an inch or so of snow, but it is a snowmobile. Yamaha is trying to do something, but what can they do to help. I am considering a Ulmer clutch kit thinking the helox and both springs will be replaced and it should help with the squeeze on the belt. I wonder if I can try some Cat clutches

That sucks and should not be. The stock clutching runs cool. I'm not sure about setting your spring at 6 - 2. It should be set at 3 - 3.

There all running Hot, stock or tuned. We have checked a lot of different ones this season. I have seen the best results by Setting my offset at 59 mm. Ran 126mph on Gps On Saturday after trail riding a 100 miles. About an inch of slushy snow on Ice 40 degrees out. Pulled the side cover off and could hold my hands on both clutches. Belt looked fine. 4800 miles on the sled.. Tuned to 270.

Well Yamaha does not believe their is an issue with that coolant hose not being protected, they are not looking to add any protection. Oh and no they won’t fix the sled at no expense to the customer!!! Trust me I know first hand!!

They may fix it in next years production , they are not going to call you and say hey we screwed up on such and such bring ig it in we'll fix it with the new design, but no your going to bend over and take it, ,and they always seem to say this is the first we have seen of this issue , yet one can find numerous posts on this site and others of all most every issue with the winder by a number of owners .

At 3-3 I blew 2 belts. We thought maybe my weight needed more squeeze, hence going to 6-2. It seemed better until I blew another belt up north. I think I am going to go back and see what they can set my offset too. It seems many are having luck with going from 61 which is what the dealer is setting them too down to 58 and check the heat on the clutches again. I traded sleds with my buddy same year DX but same sled and his clutches with me on it still werent as hot as mine.
