For drag racing. Pain in butt for anything else.
Mine works great for trail riding too. Nice and snappy. Takes the bumps like a champ. Gets better fuel mileage than most sleds. Couldn’t ask for much more in a high performance trail sled to be honest.
I know. Just wanted 4cyl Crossplane simplicity and proven longevity or if Turbo a 2 cyl based on Phazer engine. Both with gear reduction. Mid Size. That is a big one for me.Mine works great for trail riding too. Nice and snappy. Takes the bumps like a champ. Gets better fuel mileage than most sleds. Forgot about mountains. Your right Turbo is nice there.Disagree. Working with Dave on high elevation tunes and it's pretty awesome to see what the winder can do at 19 + psi at 10,000ft and only weights and helix changed, stock springs. Simple pleasure.

I have not modded & most likely won't, but the fact that Yamaha built an engine that's so easy to mod for INSANE dependable power is a compliment to them.
I will compliment Arctic Cat for making what may be the best trail chassis ever built.

Amen, great chassis + great motor = fun times. I have to laugh at the 1" track on the T-cat though. They still call out the 24/50 gearing in the specs so it won't be any faster stock. The marketing kills me!

good catch....1" won't help give the 4-5 mph top end like they are stating with still a 2.08 ratio

Has to have a little different program in it. They don't have to tell us though...can't have t cats and srx's getting passed by the lowly stock turbo masses!!

All Yamaha has to do is turn up the turbo just a little bit and claim it has to do with the lowered suspension and shorter lugged track. In fact, they could do that every year to garner more sales.

I would assume same drivers but even if they are chances are the 1" track may reach full OD or higher shift ratio a bit easier. Still could be quicker.
A lower suspension may allow for a more efficient track loop around the suspension to give a couple on top end. It doesn't take much in the suspension category to make the same sled run 3-4 mph stronger on top end.

My brothers Ltx 137 inch track taps out at 128 mph gps
My 129 rtx taps out at 122 gps.
The 137 has a higher ratio then the 129 I take it.

I ha
I have wondered many times if in fact that was done during the 2017 promotional video. The one that was done in Canada with dealers trying out the brand new Sidewinders. Radar gun showed 122 on video. Snow not ice!
I still want one of those! Lol
The hype is here. Great marketing strategies sell units.

Wow!
Thought they were geared identical.
Ice I am guessing, because those are unreal numbers for stock and snow!

I didn’t say they were stock. Just gearing is stock.
Just thought I would comment on gear ratio
Cheers
