Please don't be pointing that out!!!
Winder riders don't want our rates going up.
If you want the lower rates buy a 998.

That was my point to buying a Sidewinder. Apples to Apples. You guys have me convinced. If you want a better ride. It’s the way to go! Just do not want to kill my Wife. LOL!

Never happen.
Never say never. They still make the DB II chassis, just need to put in the Apex motor and higher seat and bar riser, upgrade suspension and good to go!

Hate to be bearer of bad news but an apex with taller seat (seat concepts), riser and good shock package is not going to get many if any off of a sidewinder. I did a 300 mile day on a 12 apex back in December as I never had chance to really run an apex xtx. It had seat concepts, riser, gytr piggy back ski shocks. star kit in rear. It had 18k miles on it and i had a brand new SRX in shop but opted to take the apex for the fun of it. I was stubborn early on about procross and still hate how it is put together, but ride for ride there is no comparison.

The last few years I have quit riding on weekends other then our TY rides. I have my 11 XTX right where I want it, does it rides as good as a procross on junk trails, no way. But 2500 to 3k miles of weekday riding the trails are in great shape and the sled is amazing on good trails. There are a lot of times I ride by myself, do I feel I can trust cat DNA , no. I have nothing against the procross sleds, just feel the cat DNA still a issue on trusting the sled out on my own. Heck my 09 Mono rides great on weekday rides, the trails are smooth and no weekend warriors trying to kill you in the turns on their Nascar ride. During the week the groomers in the UP keep the trails in top notch shape with grooming every night.

Make all the excuses you want the Delta Box is non comparable to the Pro Cross chassis. I wish you Apex guys would just face the music instead of turning every one of these threads into an Apex vs the world. If your happy with your Apex that's fine some are but don't try and justify its not worth upgrading to a Pro Cross chassis. Judging by the mileage you have on your Apex you are far from putting on 2500 to 3000 miles a week or even a year for that matter. I don't have to wait for good smoothie trails I hope on my Winder and take what ever conditions the trails have to offer for the day.

Not saying it is comparable, they are apples and oranges.
It is not Apex vs the world, if Yamaha would totally fix the cat DNA I might consider one. The top notch UP trails I ride all week long the Apex is great, and 99% reliable.

I have and love both a 13 APEX XTX with Star suspension, small riser and a 15 Viper STX DX -so DBII and pro cross.

There is no comparison on ride / handling and seated posture as well as comfort and ease of sit to stand- about 5000 miles on procross and 10,000 on this DBII- the procross is my choice. On smooth trails the low DBII chassis flow along beautifully but when its rough, procross is significantly better.

I have not had any more repairs on Yamacat than my now 5 different DBII sleds with over 50,000 miles total ( not all ridden by me as often out with family members or friends ridding them). My one complaint with the Viper is poor top end compared to the Vectors and just a little faster than the Venture GT .....especially compared to my APEX’S.

I have to admit I am ready to move on from the constant complaints against Yamaha /Cat joint venture.

I and I believe many TYrs are very tired of those who insist on continuing to bash the Yamacats and Praise the Japanese sleds that are no longer made. It seems every thread gets changed to ‘it was better on Real Yamahas’.

PLEASE LET IT GO

Don't think I am bashing the procross, just the cat DNA that continues to plague it. Sorry if you guys are taking it that way, I am not doing so intentionally, guess it coming off that way which is not my intention.
If Yamaha could fix the cat designed flaws that would be huge, they have addressed some and feel there is a lot of people that would agree they have more to do.
Travis has done a good job fixing these issues, from what I can see if eliminating the roll over valve and solving the chain case issues may be all that is left and would go a long way on fixing the last of the remaining issues.
In the 50k miles I have put on my DB and DB II I have never had a break down, heck in the 25k miles on my 93 to 2003 Yamaha 2s never had a single break down.
This started out as my comment to ST TV implying the EPS is going to make us DB II riders flock to the procross, put a 100% Yamaha chain case on it and maybe.....

Your driving a 11 year old snowmobile if you had any intention of buying new i think you probably would have done it by now Yamaha or something else. If you think that the one your riding now is up to snuff with any of the new ones your crazy I'd rather have a SX Venom. Maybe it's not in the cards for some to purchase new that's all good I still have my 07 Phazer but to sit and complain about the same old stuff year after year is getting a little old.

I bought that sled 3 seasons ago with 775 miles, so now close to 8k 100% trouble free miles so far there is no need to replace. I will be upgrading my 09 with a 18 XTX when I find one, everyone hanging on to them and if one pops up for sale it is sold right away. I have purchased 5 new Yamaha sleds since switching to Yamaha in 93, will I purchase another new one, maybe not with the way winters are going even if it is all Japan. Picking up a new 2021 Wolverine X4-XTR in April, can actually use that 9 months of the year, and justify the money.
If your ever at one of the TY rides I will have to buy you a beer in the half pint, nothing like Yamaha products to enjoy a beer over it.

do I feel I can trust cat DNA
I feel this statement is old news, the few problems that exist, the bearing on the left side and upper bushing in chain case have been addressed by the aftermarket. Is that the best solution? NO, but with a half days work and less than $500 problems are fixed. Not ideal and I am not making excuses but that's where we are.
I think that is better than spending $1200-$2000 for a suspension/ seat/shocks to make a sled ridable
Polaris is no different, with people carrying wiring harness to make it through a trip, multiple reflashes, and suspension issues.

in the end ride what you want.

I had a Pro Cross chassis for 2 season, I can say I wont buy another one!

I wonder if they will offer a power steering add on kit.
There is an aftermarket EPS kit, Mr Sled has installed one for another member.
