If what I heard is correct from a arctic cat rep, after all they build them,2023 is the last year for Yamaha snowmobiles.Sure they do, the old 1980-1990 model two-stroke 540 fanner as I recall and an old Venture model from the mid 2000's. Nothing new, and nothing that even looks like a fun performance model, they have no R&D, nor do they have any engineering here in the states or Canada any longer. They appear to have no interest in developing snowmobiles any longer. All the new Yamaha built stuff has faded away other than the 998 engine that powers the Textron Arctic Cat chassis. If they came out with any new sleds of their own, it would shock the snowmobile community. They are now and have been, only a engine mfgr, since the tsunami. All Yamaha needed was a good chassis and suspension program, but they can't have that without R&D any longer. They have long ago pulled out of developing any new snowmobiles built by themselves. Why can't some people see that?
Yamaha built the best engines ever produced in two-stroke and four-stroke engines, and they were both geared output shaft driven four-cylinders. the 800 VMax4 and the Apex engines. They both were Swiss watch type engines. Dont get me wrong, all Yamaha stuff is built like that, but those engines have the most potential and make the most power per CC and also have the widest power band potential than any snowmobile engines made to date.

Is that when their agreement is over?If what I heard is correct from a arctic cat rep, after all they build them,2023 is the last year for Yamaha snowmobiles.
Might make my decision on taking my yet to be delivered 2022 easier.

2023 will be 10 years since they announced the co-branding.

I hope this is the case. The production agreement has sucked from day one and has gone from bad to worse over the past few years. I think they got burned by the proposed emission regs that never went into place. They went all in on 4-strokes and then got stuck with product the majority of the market didn’t want. Hopefully they are just sitting out the current state of affairs with gas engine technology and will jump in with electric or hydrogen or whatever gains prominence. If what I heard is correct from a arctic cat rep, after all they build them,2023 is the last year for Yamaha snowmobiles.

That would be a sad day if true. By the look of the 2023 Cat line up they may not be far behind. If what I heard is correct from a arctic cat rep, after all they build them,2023 is the last year for Yamaha snowmobiles.

Nothing I’ve seen so far in Cat’s ‘23 lineup got me even remotely excited. That means Yamaha won’t have squat for new this year.
