I have researched and red tons of forms on here About gearing. My apex The 23 tooth hit 112mph and the 22 tooth hit 105mph in approx 1000' approx. People say theoretically that 22 tooth is good for 121mph but the sled doesn't pull it. still seems like it hits a wall. I thought 23 would go at least to the 112mph the 23 tooth did but it seems slower. any opions here from guys that have actually been down this road?

I don't think 22/38 gearing in an apex will go 121
I was out on the ice today and could completely fill the clutches that are cut to allow the primary to get to the very top, and radar and gps both at 113
I can't seem to find any links to any gearing charts anymore.

In a 1000' run the 22 tooth should technically get there quicker at a higher mph if it puts the power to the ground & doesn't dig a trench. At WOT the 23 tooth will have more top end all day long! This is what I found with my o"l RTX which came with stock 22 top gear. Had more top end with the 23t & didn't really seem any less quick out of the hole, seemed to hook up & go!

i've tried 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25 before i supercharged my sled. i'd say if you're only running 1000' 23 is a good choice. if you wanna go like stink from corner to corner in the trail 22 is your man. i usually ran 2500-3000' and seen speeds of 127mph on a regular basis with a top 23 tooth. the sled only would do 112-113 in the 1/4 mile though. if i went down to the 22 it tried, but it went into overdrive to quickly.
the higher the gear the better 1:1 ratio you will achieve and less spin speed off the line.

I love my 22/38 combo for trail riding. When my rtx was new it would roll up to 125 on the dm. After the cobra track and wahl drivers 118 was the best i could get.

22/38 all the way for winter driving!! This will get ya about 112GPS or 130'ish dream meter...
No Apex does 112mph on snow anyways...Unless you're a praying mantis waiting on the sidelines at the lake to beat someone on ice - then do 23/38...(roughly 118GPS - and good luck with that). You'll need very good tuning, have to be spot on, and everything running it's best to get it. (clean ice and tail wind or no wind).
I'm at 22/39 and love it!

I found I couldn't get traction with 22 gearing. No studs. I put one through my heat exchanger and never went back. Just to worried About being stranded. Any one else have luck with 22 and 1.25 track no studs
