Was just at my local Yamaha dealer... I checked out an LTX-LE.

With the stock tri-hub (assuming these are 7.1 wheels), and with the sled on the ground, you can wiggle the hyfax at the rear end of the skid rails. The hyfax actually moves. This is clear evidence the wheels are holding the track below the skid ever so slightly. Therefore, the choice to go with 7.5 wheels seems to me like it would put excessive wear on the hyfax further forward from the rear of the skid.

I think you mean 8.5" for the LTX. I don't see it changing the front at all. You still run the track at a certain tension w/sag. If it was run super tight yea maybe it would be a factor. But when you have free play in it to start with I don't see how it could. Also if there was any pull from the front that pull would end once it hit the front idlers. The sharp curve of the rails is not till after the idlers anyway. (thinking back to front)

I believe there are 3 sizes people have written about. 7.1, 7.5, and 8.5. The stocks are 7.1?

If that is the case, by installing a slightly larger wheel, the 7.5 for example, would put wear on the hyfax a few inches in front of the rear wheels and not at the front of the skid like you may have thought I meant.

Using the larger 8.5 wheels would move the wear a few more inches further forward from the rear.

Sorry for the confusion.

7.1 is the RTX the LTX is 8 the Big Wheel kit is 8.5 for the LTX and 7.5 for the RTX

Alright. Thanks for the clarification.

Either way, the stock size on the LTX allows the hyfax to be free at the back of the rails because the wheels are just large enough to hold the track a millimeter below the hyfax. So, a larger wheel would promote hyfax wear a few inches in front of the rear wheels. I would think that's not a desirable outcome? Also, I would think a less than smooth track path would introduce undue stress on bearings?

you cant check it like that...pull the skid and set it on the ground....the hyfax will drag...now your hyfax will eventually wear there...but you have a unnatural drag until well worn...the bigger wheels are .400 larger ...so the suspension see's .200 of that....a little more than an 1/8" of an inch....and matches the space the front wheels lifting the skid off...

So, in short....which wheels do I want? LTX SE

jt........here's the link to the J&T Stealth wheel kit that you'll need for your LTX-SE: http://www.jtatv.com/STEALTH_BIG_WHEEL_KIT_p/stealth big wheel kit.htm

Your sled has 8" diameter rear wheels and you'll want the 8.5" wheels. Check the drop down box to order the correct size wheels, or call Todd the owner....great company to deal with.

BTW.....welcome to TY! I've followed your thread on DooTalk and I must say I like your style.
