7 inch "bigscreen" GPS(Garmin 2757) on Sidewinder/Crash pad

I found my 2797 on eBay this spring. I did find a waterproof case that fit it after a ton of searching. It’s really for a 7” tablet. You could easily adapt it to the power cradle. I just plug mine in to roc’s power supply via USB. I did have to make my own mounting bracket to attach to the OSP gps mount.

Another option which is really nice, and something I am considering down the road...anyone who runs a flash thru GAP. Their GPS setup(Copi-Trail) is really cool, with some nice perks. It pretty much would cover all your performance stuff and GPS all in one iPad mini setup.

Only issue with Copi-trail is it Works off of cell towers not satellite.

I ran the cops-trail all last season. I really like it.

Go used. Do a search on Facebook Marketplace for Garmin or Nuvi in your region. I bought three 5" models last year and paid between $20-$40. I was sure to get LMT models, so that I could run the updater app and update the base map for free.

The cradle issue is not a RAM issue, but a Garmin issue, as these smaller models didn't have a docking port. They only have the USB port on the back for power. So yes, the 7" models are nice for the dock port, but it's not hard to unplug the power either. The 5" finished the season strong for me this year. All my buddies appreciated the cheap Nuvi's as well.

I have seen the differences in the step up models from the 50. Although they would all point you in the right direction.

Good luck guys!

Great info

I bought everything today to duplicate your set up. What garmin maps do you recommend? Can you map out your ride before you go and get turn instruction?

That's awesome! I would love to see it once you have maps loaded. My buddies 7" Garmin was so high res, that the overlay of the maps were a fine colored line, and hardly showed up. I needed them to be fatter, so as to offset from the map under. That's only really an issue when the trails runs with a road on the map.

Nice work.

Looks like the Garmin DriveSmart 61 NA LMT might be the way to go now with currently available models. I really like the edge to edge screen, I wonder though if it can be made water resistant like the 2797?
