In the process of reassembling the chain case and my new drive chain is to narrow to fit the top gear. Counted the links twice, 86! Ordered the chain off of Partzilla, Yamaha part# 8KC-RAM01-20-00 (86L)/UR. It came in a sealed bag with the correct Yamaha sticker with Part#. Anyone else run into this issue? Thank's Guys! ;)!

Measure the width, if it's 3/4" wide then it's mistakenly marked, it's a 8JP chain (SR Viper) and is narrower. The Sidewinder chain is 7/8" wide.

Any chance it's silent chain not Hyvo?

I just checked the two I have on the shelf that I got in for stock to be sure they were right. Both were correct. 15 plate wide.

Never thought of counting the plates till after I made the initial post, to pissed off I guess! :o| Counted the plates, 13! #$%&* Srxspec is correct, it's a Viper Chain. Yamaha mislabeled the bag. So I guess I'll play phone tag with Partzilla for an exchange, hopefully the next one is right! Thanks again guy's! ;)!

I’m running into a similar issue, I just picked up a 2015 viper mtx with an mpi turbo. Got it with the chain case making noise, pull it apart and find the drive chain is stretched out. Clean everything up, count the top gear teeth (21) and of course didn’t count the bottom. I’m assuming 41. I pulled the chain out tho and got a 86 link chain out of it. Not sure if I should agree with that and order another one or should I reheat this thing. I was told it’s 270hp right now

I've owned a 2015 Sr Viper for 5 years with an MPI 180 Turbo it won't run worth s*** at high elevation on the bottom end and a slight mid-range wide open runs good and at low elevation runs perfect but it's an MPI trail Turbo I wonder if anyone has any leads on what I can do to make it run right at high elevation
