My buddies Gt has 2000 miles on it and the A-arm upper and lower bushings were toast. The dealer replaced them under warrenty and when we lifted the sled up on a jack there is still tons of slop in both upper and lower arms. the upper is however considerably worse. What gives. Bruce Schrader has a bushing kit that he sells. Can anyone tell me if his tollerances are closer and if it will tighten this thing up.
A-arm bushings
On my Apex, when it had ZERO miles on it had some "play" in the upper left a-arm, right side had very little if any.
Questioned the dealer and to others on this sight and all replied as being normal-I agree. (Would rather have both sides equal and minimal play)
After 1400 miles, there is no noticeable change.
The bulkhead is cast, so there is or can be some slight variation between the left & right sides.

One thing to check if the bushings wear to far then the bulk head will wear, I have not had these problem on a apex, But had seen it on my old rx-1 with 1700 miles the bulk head was junk, Now I got a vector ( witch has the same front end as the apex ,so of course I was watching the front end, 1000 miles and all bushing are junk, I was going to use bruce's bushings ,But Yamaha replaced them all , But after these were I will go with the nylotron bushings. I have heard good things about the nylotron.

Where do I get these upgraded bushings? I'll replace mine when I get my front end back.
Is there a aftermarket bushing set for both the rear and front of these new Apex's?

This is normal play. Check out a new one. This play will not hurt anything. Just ride the sled and stop worrying about it. I have 4000 miles on mine and still has the same play as when new.
Oak Hill is right,my 04 was loose when it was brand new!JayOak Hill said:This is normal play. Check out a new one. This play will not hurt anything. Just ride the sled and stop worrying about it. I have 4000 miles on mine and still has the same play as when new.

Pioneer's kit did not include the bushings in the bulkhead, which also need to be changed to keep things tight and preclude wear beyond the bushing into the bulkhead. That kit also does not include the plastic washers/seals that may be needed. It's kind of a partial kit. By the time I got done running back and forth to the dealer and waiting for the parts not included, the entire Pioneer kit wound up still sitting on my shelf???
On my 04 RX, even after all the bushings and plastic washers/seals were changed, with no wear in the bulkhead or on the bolts, the A-Arms still had axial travel along the bolts. Mag side was twice as bad as the PTO side. I cut the ridge off one of the old plastic washers/seals and slide it in there next to the new plastic washer. This took out almost all of the A-Arm's endplay. You may have to thin the washer a bit, by sanding it, to allow a few mils of axial endplay. On my sled, both sides now have very little play.

My GT did not have the steel bushings around the bolt top and bottom on the spindle end on the right side! Talk about slop -just the plastic bushing and a bolt.
