A look at changes 05 vs 06 monoshock skid

The taller bumpstops are believed to be the most helpful solution to the pivot arm cracking.
Picture 1 is basically the 05. In picture 2 you can see the taller bumpstops and the rail reinforcements (plates bolted on the rails starting behind the double wheels to the bolts that secure inside wheel shaft near the rear). You can also see that the 06 rails have more height to them from the inside wheel shaft to the rear axle Zerks of course on the pivot points. I think at least one bushing is different. 8)
Not sure on the pivot arms yet. They might have added gussets and reinforcements here and there.
The RA cable is different and I think no boot.

Based on the photos I dont know if I agree the bump stop is taller, it appears to be an illusion from the difference in the photo angles.

The 06 mono does in fact have taller bump stops. I am not trying to pull the wool over your eyes :shock:

Not taken that way at all Tork, I was just commenting on what I thought I saw in the pics and thought you were too, if you know for fact theyre taller then thats great.

Weather they are taller or not,they added an extra set of wheels WHY? this skid looks to be at least 10lbs fater than the 05 but much more rugged.

If you're referring to the inside wheels near the back on the rail, the picture of the 05 just doesn't have them installed. In fact, they ARE present on the 05, and THAT is where the 05 rails have been known to break.... you see the bolt hole where the wheel goes? That whole part gets cracked off from the pressure UP on those (missing) wheels.

I see the spot your refering to. If you look closely the '06 has an extra plate in there almost like a splint to handle the pressure. I noticed it when I was looking at an attak today

Here are two skid pics to compare. First one is the 06 skid from this thread and the other is an actual production 06 skid. More stiffeners and no wheels in the middle of the skid. Also notice the difference at the rear of the skid just in front of the rear axle. Two tubes are straight in one picture and all four are curved in the other. Wonder why????? :?

Could your second pic be the Attak 136 picture? I think it is. That one is mono of course also but a different design. You can see the edge of the middle wheels in your pic just behind the pivot arm. Look at all the rail reinforcements on that one :shock: (shown best in your picture)

Yup, you are right! It was on an APEX thread, but now that I looked at a pic of the whole sled, you can see the extension on the back, so it must be an ATTAK.

Interesting that the skids are quite a bit different. Makes one think that stretching an 05 RX-1 to 136" would be a bad idea.

The mono shock is reversed on the 06 also must be a reason for this. The zerks and the splint on the rail is going to fix a lot of problems.

I agree with everyone that it does look more solid and hopefully will eliminate the rail problems. But it makes you wonder if the mono rear shock valving and spring combination are where they should be. I keep thinking back to the topic of Snow Goer's evaluation of the mono rear and how it "crashes violently" through it's travel, therefore rail problems. Makes you wonder.

All I know is, I'll be watching this forum like a hawk for reported failures, while trying hard to refrain from (-) comments. I still have my suspicions about the durability.

Is the '06 a better over-all sled than my '04, YES. Am I ready for an '06 NO.

The shock on the 06 appears to be an electronic olins, maybe thats why it's reversed.
