A heat soaked engine is not necessarily overheating, but it is running with very high water and oil temps. Also temps of the internal parts of the engine have reached a very high and above normal operating temperature. Risk of detonation are imminent. This is where a good Intercooler, enough octane (read race fuel), along with proper engine and fuel delivery setup becomes critical for the survival of your engine if you continue pushing it.

I always take a break and shut the sled off every couple of passes for usually 10min or so when im dragging. The only time I might have problems with that is running down the lake. I used to run down the 11 mile lake at wot for a few min then back to 3/4 and sometimes back as far as 1/2 then back up to wot for a couple miles. When I get the turbo installed I will be more careful and get off in the powder snow and burp it a couple times before getting back on the hard pack and touching it off again...

One nice thing tho is that you will probably go a lot faster at 3/4 throttle than you have ever gone at wot with the stock sled

I stock Billet T's and Billet Carb caps if haven't already ordered.
Give me a call I can make a few suggestions that will really make them fly.
