The LTX is so stable for trail riding and of course the power is a blast. I like riding both sleds equally, the Vector gives you a bit better handling in the twisties and the Apex is fun on the straights. So I know where you're coming from with this. I have toyed with the idea of getting a 4-Tek short track, but after riding over christmas I am very glad I did not sell either sled this year. They are a blast to ride. I rode all day a couple of days the 1st ride of the year and didn't even get sore like I used to in the old days. Now if you get them stuck, that's another story, but for ride comfort these sleds are something else.
Vernon I'm just over the hill from you in Cross Plains nice to meet you Fusion. Rob![]()
Hey Rob, I spent alot of time in Summit Lake area as a kid, when spending summers in Pelican Lake. Still go through the area every couple of weeks on the way to Eagle River. Always wanted to ride the Summit Lake trails but never have. Still have relatives living on Pelican that tell me Elcho trails are real nice. Made one trip from ER down through Sugar Camp and on to Pelican a couple of years ago. Nice ride. Need snow now though.[/quote]
Hey Fusion, I'm on Bass lake right next to Summit Lake and I have a lot of family on Pelican Lake. Hey give me a pm we will hook up some time for a ride.Rob

Just to be clear, the ski scratcher link isn't my idea, but I have used it.

Here is another dealer www.tr-skoteromek.se
I think my new track was adjusted WAY too tight . I should have checked it but I expected the dealer to get it right. No way in hell these slides should be worn out like this so fast. I have the Wheel Kit on order from Ulmer and left the track much looser this time around. I also went with the HP hyfax. If it doesn't skip then i'll adjust it back until it does ,, then 1 turn forward lol .
220Km's with 4" of snow over hard packed ungroomed trails.

i have never ever seen sliders that melted, wow.
^^ I know ,,, my other sled that has a 1.5 136" track and gets well over 2500miles per set . I think the track tension had a lot to do with this excessive wear.
My dealer wants the worn slides back to make a case to Yamaha. I'm pretty sure he won't get much of a response. I do applaude his efforts and I am grateful he is willing to try. Fact is ,,I'm out 45 bucks today and 1/2hr of my time to replace a set of slides that should not be worn out

I have 600 miles on mine & not even close to that bad. If your wearing near the front bend track is usually too tight for trail riding.

Turk , how much effort should it take to push the track off the front contact point at the bend ? I'm curious as mine was adjusted so tight it took a lot of effort,,too much imo. Yamaha track tension spec seems too tight if that's what is was set to . I adjusted my limiter up 1 notch after the first 100km's. Looks like I should have taken some track tension off as well ..

frosty, did you take the susp out to get at them? or just undo the two screws and spin them out in reverse

I took them out with the Susp in the sled. Take out screws, a few taps to get them moving , a few choice words used to get the ends through the windows, then a slide hammer with Vise grips to slip them off.

Tightening the limiter looses track tension.
An easy way to see if track is too tight is if it won,t free roll with no throttle down a slight hill.

Yup ,, guess it wasn't enough . I'm sure 90% of this wear happened on that 1st ride with the tight track, limiter down 1 and no scratchers. I'll try the roll trick on the next ride.

Used these this year, they bend and flex, how they put them on the skid I thought they were already halfway down the skid. So I mounted them on the running boards, drilled a hole, couple washers, and positioned it so it was facing down. Way better results. Up at the front of the skid facing down and tips are interchangable. Sprays snow like a mofo

the ends you can spin, position and lock with a nut how you want it to face on both ends. Nice to drive now and not worry about hitting pow on the trails, its great

Those are pretty slick scratchers.
