This was posted by Eric Bikeman of bikemanperformance.com. He brought an Apex RTX, Crossfire 700, and one of his custom F9 sleds up to North Dakota to do some field testing after a storm last week:

"Actually the Apex was faster. They both came out of the gate nice but the Apex pulled it pretty hard in the mid range and top end. After the clutch kit and pipe mod the crossfire would stay side by side up to about 80 then the apex would slowly pull away, much closer though. But the Apex has some nice top end pull. The F9 firecat could just play with the Apex though, but it should will much more power and less weight. Was alot of fun to just get out on some snow!"

At the risk of sounding juvenile - I can't wait to lay the smack down on a few F7s and Crossfires! The complete thread is here:

Hey vice thats great to hear, but bikeman did not say if he did any clutch work to his rtx,if he did not, than it ran really good. ;)!

Pete, he said in another post that he hadn't touched the clutching at all yet! It only gets better!

Go take a look at the thread guys. It starts off with second hand info incorrectly saying the crossfire was faster. The cat guys started crowing then the original tester clarified that the Apex smoked the crossfire until they clutched and piped it. Then it could hang with the Apex for awhile until the apex slowly walked away ;)!

Just wait until that sweet 150 fuelie loosens up after some miles :ORC

Yup allen you are right, supertips and your helix and spring combo should do the trick, lol now a better comparison to the crossfire would be the attak, and i bet the results will be the same, crossfire will still be looking at the tailights.. ;)!

Im really surprised someone didnt say something about how the apex should be faster as it has 4 cylinders and the cat only has 2 or how the apex has 150 hp and the cat only has 140hp.

Every fusion owner ive heard of told me they hated it! Most traded theres for other sleds! Numberous problems

How does the new Fusion's compare, top end, accel? Just curious as I ride w/ 2 of them and don't know what to expect-comparable to the F9, or not even close?
OK sense i have one,but it leaves my house for the dealers this sat. to be traded, heres what i know first hand,it will be close out of the hole and thru midrange,if the fusions you ride w/are good ones and given that they may even have some decent topend,i only saw 110 gps on mine, but i had a bad one,my friend had one go 112 gps and read higher on speedo when he did not have gps,and i have wetnessed some run 118 gps,but down the road all of the good ones who ran well BLEW up,go figure right,so it could be a tuff call, now this is 05s and no one knows how the 06 will turn out,but dont count them out and dont give them any edge in a race,my personal feeling is we will walk them from bottom all the way to top,but as you know there is always someone somewhere who is faster, dont worrie be happy, you got one of the sweetest sleds ever made and i am talking form exsperiance 35+ years of it,now allen stated he has seen the full production apex to be a little more healthy than the protos,so should be fun.. ;)!

I still wouldn't bet the ranch against a well set-up F7. Two different sleds. Make sure you know whats in the sled you race, unless just for fun.
