your XTX has a 8 tooth driver - the slowest of the bunch - 117 is what its geared for - if u see more than 120 - your going to blow a belt shortly after --- with a 8 tooth 3.0 pitch 24" circumference sprocket - these sleds need a gear change for trail - the cheapest way it to insert a 22 top for 15 bucks.... that adds about 7 mph. u can overdrive the gear but if u doo - its murder on the belt... or go with a 24 with 88 link chain for about 136 - ive seen 142 on a ice road on lean 17.... blew a belt the next day tho - over drove it - again. im going to a 25 top this year.Migster and others. I put a deposit on a Winder SRX, so I'll give some GPS or radar numbers in stock form as long as I get the right conditions here(No lake, so I need my sideroad to get good hard snow cover)
I'm on board with others here that 130 is highly unlikely without a tune.
Example - The highest top speed I saw on my 18 with 1.6 Cobra track was 117, however, the machine soon after received PT tune with SQ muffler along with Dalton weights and....presto...126

Waldo, pretty much in agreement with you here. With the 8DN belt, I could get to about 119 at 88-8900. That's where I was fully shifted. Then RPM's would rise to 9400 to get me to 126. where you finding a 25 tooth top? All i found was ordering through Taylor.

25 = scotty T = correct - yamaha only offers 21 and 24 in 15 wide - cat has a 22 as we all know - not enough for an 8 tooth but better for cheap

Looking to get GPS speedo for coming winter
Pretty fast considering the Cobra track, they are known to be top speed killers. I've ran a couple myself years back, great hookup and acceleration but scrubs top end.

Cobra 1.35 top speed killer? First time i hear that! Ripsaw2 is like a hand brake for top speed....:-/Pretty fast considering the Cobra track, they are known to be top speed killers. I've ran a couple myself years back, great hookup and acceleration but scrubs top end.

i thought maby because its a single ply that i was getting better top end - im inserting a 2 ply now and im afraid i cant pull it up over 130 as easy at 275 hp, so im actually sticking with the 24 top till i its verified --- yamahas playing a game with the 2 ply 1 ply 141 1.6 thing - my dealers telling me all 141 1.6 have been 2 ply all along,, and thats simply not true at all - 17's all have 1 ply on the 1.6 --- try to find any info on that track now - its like they pulled all the data everywhere so we wont know the truth and want our #*$&@ tracks replaced --- like they finally figured out in the middle of the 18 build that we could loose the track out the back at 200+ hp... some 18's have 1 - some have 2 ply - and all 19s have a 2 ply now. so they say... like putting a D rated tire on a diesel

Yes I have found that out when trying to buy a take off or used! New ones are listed as 2 ply and fully clipped. Just because it is advertised as a Ripsaw II, it does not mean it is a 2 ply!!
How about the fully clipped tracks. My stock Winder track was not but if you buy new they are fully clipped, so a manufacturer can have them built special for them and that is where one has to watch out I guess. Have been on tracks USA and Camso sites looking. Track model # and an email to Camso or Tracks USA will tell if 2 ply or not when online shopping for used or take-Off. A bit confusing.
I also have a 1 ply but am looking for a 2 ply fully clipped. Was thinking 1” for top end and to help retain my studs rather then destroying yet another cooler, as had happened to many of my past sleds, but probably stay with 1.25

1st time you heard that? That's been pretty much common knowledge and many on this site will say the same. Ripsaw II is much less of a top speed killer than the Cobra.
The 4 strokes with their broad torque band are not as drastic as a 2 stroke though. I have even done back to back comparisons with 2 identical sleds, believe me it's real. Several years ago my father and I had 2 good running 2 stroke 700 Vipers. Originally we both had Predator 1.25" tracks. Each one of them were common on long straights with that track to see 117-118 on the dream-O-meter. Yes there is about 6% error on those. (another story). After I installed the Cobra on mine the best I ever saw was 107. It hooked hard and gave the other one a tough race down low but once spooled up the other one we left the Predator on would walk it by 9-10 mph up top.
On the Apex's the top speed is a bit lower up top but not as drastic. I have a 2007 Attak GT clutched and a 1.25" Ripsaw II and my brother in law has same sled in a 2008 LTX GT 40 yr.anniv. with same clutching but the Cobra track. Mine tops out a good 5-6 mph over his under same conditions. The Cobra has more of a cupping/fanning effect on the big end.

For sure i think no one can be perfect in every condition. Even if it has a lack of performance in loose snow the ripsaw2 1.25 full clip is a good track. VERY durable and perfom well all around. I am realy tempted by cobra 1.35 2 ply and hear very good thing about it on SWSo what is your track of choice for both top end and good traction with the power of a tuned or stock Winder?

I love the look of the new SRX but I ride in the UP of Michigan where the snow is mostly Lake Effect which is very sugar like. The one inch track with studs would be useless to me. I would install the 1.5 Storm track which performs wonderful on a SW in those parts. Then I would choose the SLP Mohawk skis, the RR shafts in the rear skid, a taller windshield and maybe some clutching upgrades. There are a few options out there for clutching on a stocker, whether it's Ulmer, a Dalton kit, STM's, Fett Brothers , Thunder Products to name a few. Which one is best is a good question. It seems I am hearing more feedback of people with tunes on these than I am for stock setups.
I don't think I would do a tune the first year, I'd rather see how it performs for a season and then go from there. These things are faster than any stock sled out there. If you get beat it is a good chance it's going to be another SW or TCat with more done to it. There is no 850 Doo or Poo that will stand a chance. No more wondering about that scenario.
