I know this a frequently asked question but here it goes. I currently own a 07 amex mtn and have around 250miles on it so far. I want to turbo it in the next 2-6 months and would like to hear everybodys input. I want a good reliable turbo kit that will not break the bank. With apex being fuel-injected do you have to adjust fuel for elevation all the time or only when you are changing boost? I am not looking for huge horsepower but something i can ride on pump fuel on low boost, i am looking to be in the 250-280hp range on pump fuel and mabye going with a boost controller to get more boost for certain occasions. What is the going rate on a installed alpine kit. ANY FEEDBACK WOULD BE AWESOME ON WHAT YOU GUYS THINK IS THE BEST KIT TO GO WTIH. THANKS! :yam:

Alpine does the 260 on Pump search for a post by mike knapp about the turbo on the dyno. They found it made the 260 on pump fuel.

Until it pops....why don't you want to mix in an extra $5-$10 of av gas each ride to protect that $20k sled??? I think 260 would be pushing it if you plan to be taking big pulls up steep slopes. I'd go Alpine though if were to do it all over again.

Even if i put low compression pistons in i still should run a 50/50 mix of av and reg. who is the best to have install the alpine kit

Use the calculator to figure that out based on your comp and elevation. You might be ok if you have lower comp pistons to run 12psi but I think you'd be pushing it trying to get 14-15. It also helps to really open up the hood area to let the IC get as cold as possible. Good luck.

whistlercowboy, how much horse should i be able to run with pistons and pumps fuel, and which turbo is best to have the 28 or the 25! I want to be able to turn it up to bigger power if i want, any estimated installed turbo prices? Where is vernon located at!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with the MCX turbo, the 310 mapping and low comp pistons you can run 17psi with pump fuel...I know several people that run it all last winter and never had a problem

I heard that the mcx kit is very good and reliable but a little on the expensive side! Is that true.

sled

The alpine and the mcx are very similar in price . And it costs more to go the bigger turbo with the alpine kit

I don,t believe any kit can run 17 lbs on pump fuel not on the pump fuel in the lower 48, it doesn,t matter who,s kit you have they all need the same fuel reguirements, I am not saying nobody has done it but I don,t believe they will get away with it for ever it will take the motor out in the end, I have seen several stock motors on pump fuel at 8 to 10 lbs go down, some of them ran awhile but in the end it cost them, get the bigger turbo which ever kit you decide on, you are already saying you want to turn it up, its cheaper and easier to go bigger the first time, I have up grade twice now, and don,t push your luck by skimping on fuel, it cost money to go fast and it cost a lot more if you try to do it cheaply.
