AFR readings help?

this is what my sled does , fpp kit which i belive uses gem controller

constant 30mph on trail a/f reads 12 and shows no boost

after this supstained speed if you nail it , it is loaded up and blubbers til cleans out

if speed up to constant 45 mph boost shows 1psi and a/f goes to 10, and from what is can see any speed with boost reads 10 on a/f, i have a wideband gauge

from my understanding the lower the number the richer and higher number is lean

Yeah,

Lower readings = richer mixture.

I run at about 12.5 cruising down the trail.
At WOT im about 11.5-12.

Idling it starts about 12, and ends up higher after a while.

after thinking about it, i wonder if air cleaner was restricted, it is hid under seat next to muffler, might not be snow covered but maybe wet , its foam with a prefilter cover

So what options do I have to richen my RX1, its 15 on the AFR at idle, is this ok?

My RX1 idles lean like that. Be more worried about your WOT. What are your numbers going down the trail?

AFR numbers due vary for different motors. Those of us runing the 3 hole in the Viper have to keep WOT AFR # under 11.0 This motor will eat itself at higher #'s than that. Idle I am seeing 14 basic cruising 12 ish and WOT 10.4 to 10.6

Wow 10.4... To 10.6 I'm very rich at those numbers but I have the old school carbs

Idle is never a problem... It's mid and wot that need to be near perfect.... 11.2 is as high as I feel comfortable with carbs and 10 lbs / 100 octane.

Yeah the 4 holer vs the 3 is diff in what they like AFR #'s to be happy and stay together. I had an 03 RX mtn with a bender rear mount on it and played a lot with jetting to get it to 12's at WOT there is only so much you can do with the carbs to get it there. Altitude and Octane are other factors that play into the equation also. The Viper is limited by both the fuel pump flow rate and the injectors max flow. We can (I did) upgrade to larger fuel pump. And then either install lager injectors which is a problem or add 4th injector into the intercooler (I did) to get enough fuel into it for 12#'s of boost.

This thread has been full of great educational information
Thank you for the great lessons on AFR it cleared up a lot
fog in my head over that subject.... And has me thinking
I'm still too rich as today I sit at 10.8 WOT 10 lbs boost 100 octane
No shim stock engine new takai plugs BOV new coils
127 mains clean carbs....I don't run e85 in my fuel just shell 91 and klots 114 mixed.
The only thing not new is the file pump and reg however pressure at idle is 4 lbs
No idea what it is at Wot .... Very hard to see what's going on at those speeds on snow
Some days I wish FI was cheaper because I'm not a fan of the rider forward position
however, I love the technology of the FI.

10.8 isn't too bad, but if you decide to jet leaner, I'd only make very small changes, and if it doesn't seem to make any more power, I'd leave it at 10.8.

Thanks mr bond, 007 you have always provided me with great info and help.
Now if I can only wrap my head around the fun time of pulling the inter cooler and carbs ;-)

I got 11 - 13 at trail speed and light boost (8lb), when on boost it ran out of fuel, bowls empty. Gotta check some stuff...
